if you don't need it, get rid of it :)

The EGR system is used to lower NOx (oxides of nitrogen) emissions caused by high combustion temperature and excessive oxygen. Adding exhaust gases back into the intake, displaces oxygen and decreases combustion temperatures.

A pipe from the RH exhaust manifold feeds exhaust gas to a port at the back of the intake manifold. An internal passage in the intake manifold feeds over to where the EGR valve mounts (lower, round hole). The EGR valve mounted on the back of the intake manifold is used to meter small amounts of exhaust gas (via upper, square-ish hole) back into the intake and on to the combustion chambers.
If you don't want it, deleting it will reduce weight and clean up you engine bay. Just know that it will throw a SES light until you tune it out.

Another pro to deleteing egr is that a common problem on LT1s is an oil leak from the back of the intake manifold. This is usually caused by the heat from the egr gases flowing by that part of the gasket and overtime from heating it up and cooling down it screws the seal up.

You can make one fairly easily. If you dont want to go that route, I think I've seen them on ebay for like $10.

Is there any write up on deleting the AIR tube too?

I'll be putting the headers on my car (come with it but uninstalled) and an ORY and will delete the EGR and AIR at the same time.

Probably nixing the A/C with a 1LE pulley too as the compressor is bad and nights here in WY are usually cool :D
