Guys I'm thinking about going back to a nitrous system on my car. I've built an all forged 383 running 9:1 compression with trickflow heads with springs good to 600 lift. I have a ported intake and a 58mm throttle body. I would be changing injectors and cam. The engine is currently built to run forced induction. My question is whats a good size cam that will make good horsepower with a 250 horse shot?

With a shot that small you can get away with a N/A cam. I would say something with a tight lobe seperation angle and as much lift as you can get. The duration will be around 240* to 250* in order to keep the rpms down.

CC306 likes juice if your looking for a off the mill cam. I'd recommend talking to a good cam company such as AI or LE and get a custom grind for your setup though.

I would do some thing to get the DCR where it needs to be while I was at it. 9.0 is on the low side for a LTx for sure

how big of a shot will depend on your "ring end gap"
you should be safe up to 200.....if it were my set up i would sell the large chamber heads that are on there now and get a set of WORKED Lt1s to get the compression back up there since nitrous and compression go hand and hand...but that's just me. at this stage a N20 cam would possibly hurt you more than help.

what gear ratio are you runnin?
what type of fuel delivery?

Well after thinking about it some more I'm just going to keep my engine built for forced induction. Thats what I built it for. I guess if I was going to run a lot of nitrous that I would be better off building another seperate engine.

;) exactly. Keep the money for the blower/turbo that way you can get it sooner than if you bought parts to do the nitrous system

If you are interested I have a set of New Turbo's for sale ;)Installing a turbo is my goal. I just don't know when i'm going to have time to do it. But if a ran across a really good deal on a turbo or turbos I would be interested. I've really cleaned out the engine bay leaving me with a lot of empty space. I'm also looking for a set of exhaust manifolds or headers to attach the turbos to.

I just wish I could get the car back together this year with a turbo. I've moved 5 hours away from my garage because of a job that I regret taking. It doesn't leave me with a lot of time to work on my car.
