Aight, I know this is a LS1 question but I hate posting on LS1tech unless i'm selling something. Anyway does anyone know a company that makes brackets to relocate all 4 coils of one engine bank to the back of the cylinder heads. This is for a LS1 conversion into a 69 so cowl mounts won't work.

I know I saw some LS1 coil harness extensions a long time ago. With those, you should be able to mount them anywhere you'd like. The only problem with that is you're looking into making your own wires and it could take some improvisation. I'm not aware of any full kit to do what you're looking for, but I'm not near as seasoned to all this LS1 stuff.

Just curious, why are you wanting to mount the coils to the back of the cylinder head?

Its going into our 69 camaro project and the entire engine compartment of the car is smoothed, wanting to run a clean and slick set of valve covers thus I need to put the coils somewhere and right now its gonna either be the back of the heads or down low underneath the headers and I'm concerned about heat if I go that route.

I see. The harness extensions I was thinking of were just long enough to mount them on the firewall IIRC, so I don't suppose that helps you too much. Maybe there's an LS1 guru on here somewhere that could point you in the right direction. The only thing I can think of is to have a reputable wiring place make you some custom extension harnesses so you could fab up brackets or a mount of some sort.

Either way, it sounds like a pretty serious project. Sounds like this project more of a show car?

The build is show car quality but its going to be driven thats for sure. Going to run trickflow heads and a good size cam in the ls1, backed by a TKO 5 speed, DSE front suspension, narrowed 9in with mini tubs in the rear etc etc. Its mine and my dads project, finally got the LT1 about were I wanted it so we started this. I'll post some pics one day college gets in the way of the fun shit.

That sounds pretty sweet.... Pics or ban :D

I googled and googled, but I didn't find any kit that would help. I did find a ton of the cowl kits, but I couldn't find anything like what you were looking for.

well here is some before pics roughly 2 years ago I'll get some build pics when I go home again. It was a base V8 car so no complaints about chopping it up.

I was just thinking, now im not sure how much room you'll have or anything but what about using two botls from the bellhousing and bolting a bracket "shelf like" thing to the bellhousing and mount them there? Just a thought, you would still need quite a bit of extension on the harness and plugs, but it would be pretty badass!
