i took the car around the subdivision today and took some pics. unfortunately i overestimated how much salt was removed from the roads by the rain and some did get on my gfx and wheel wells but i spent a good 45 minutes with QD and damp cloths wiping off all the salt i could find. i'm pretty confident none got to the inner parts of the undercarriage because i reached under there and verified that the dirt i came back with didn't have any salt in it (don't ask how i did that, let's just say it involved one of the 5 senses and it was not smell, sight, sound or touch) :barf:
anyway, onto the pics.

thanks guys. its not perfect, but for 123k mi its not too bad. i'm sure that comes from no winters and the fact that the only 2 times its really gotten any road salt on it was last spring one time from what was still slightly on the roads and today having the same thing. its never been through slush or through snowy/salty roads. and the only time its gotten the salt dust on it (basically what it got today was kicked up by the tires a little bit) was promptly cleaned off.
oh and before anyone asks. the car has not been completely repainted. the sides of the car (fenders, doors, rear quarters, and hatch) have factory paint on them. the rear bumper and gfx paint is ~ 3.5 years old and the hood/front bumper/roof is about 1 year old (actually the bumper was replaced in the summer of 2007 and the hood and roof were painted in march 08)

Very nice. Is your rear bird and trans am letters in gold?
Would look good in silver. Just my 2 cents.;)

yes they are in gold, as well as the birds on the center caps on the wheels.
i've always been a fan of the black/gold T/A's of the 70s/80s and decided to do a subtle black/gold with mine. i got the decals for the back a few months after i got the car and when i got the wheels i decided i didn't want to put the corvette flags on there so i had those done. i have a set of black caps now that Brent Franker is going to make some custom decals for me if he ever gets his 3d decal maker machine working. they will be the same dimensions as the flags/chevy logo that the C4 had, but they will look like this.

i ended up washing the car this afternoon after driving around in the beater for a few hours and since i had it washed this morning to remove some rocks that were wedged in the front air damn (friends driveway i think collapsed last night, they have this dip that is a PITA but last night even creeping through it with the wagon the front nose got stuck in the rocks on the incline and i had to kind of push my way up the incline)
anyway i went and got the T/A washed and now i have a free wash for later because their doors hit my car
after going through the wash there is a pretty steep decline coming out and i was going slow so i didn't bottom out, but also had been creeping really slow through the dryer and came almost to a complete stop before going down the incline. anyway just as i'm startin to go down the incline i feel something tap the side of my car. it was the doors of the wash (they open outward to the sides. i parked the car and checked for damage but luckily didn't find any. i still went in and complained and had the manager double check with me and she was pretty cool about it. turns out her husband has an IROC that he stores in the winters too. she gave me a free wash and said the side doors do have rubber guards so they rarely if ever do any damage. once i got home and was looking over my car i realized something. depending on where the doors were when they tapped the car (whether they were adjacent to the rear wheels or behind them, i'm not sure) they probably hit the tire because the rear tires stick out at the bottom a little wider than the fenders. oh and that little ding above the back of the rear wheel is not new.

Why is the upholstery so bunched up a wrinkly in spots? Not to be a dick about it, but I wouldn't be too happy if that was new upholstery...

i dont think there was any although i did find a decent sized scratch on the fender (2 inches or so) but i doubt that came from the door as i'm pretty sure there is no way it would have made anything like that in that area because it would have tapped the bumper first and whatever piece it did touch it open back up right away. i don't recall if it was there before it it kind of felt like it had wax over it so it probably was.
as for the seats yeah there are a few wrinkles in the front part that is under your knees. i'm guessing they will flatten out a little bit after the temps warm up a bit. the rear seats i put on myself and i think i need to play with the lower part of the upper seat to adjust how they look. some of the fabric is pushed in a bit and i probably just need to grab it and pull it out a bit
oh and here's that same pic i posted earler lightened up and you can see the scratch i was referring to right in front of the taillight. my rear 1/4's are factory paint so i am sure there are scratches here and there. i noticed it while looking at the fender in the garage with a flash light. that longer one above it was a streak or something because i QD'd it and it went away but the lower one definately is a scratch of some sort i can almost feel it with my fingernail but not really so its not too deap. but as i said i doubt it came from the door since the door would have had to hit the car and then slide back twords the taillight but it pretty much tapped it and opened right back up so i doubt that was it (plus there are places further out than that it would have touched first i think, like the rear bumper)
