I have a small project going where I'm replacing the tbi motor in my truck with a 5.3L that I'm picking up monday. No experience with LS1 stuff yet. But I want to find a LS1 wiring harness, ecm, intake with fuel rails etc. I also need to find some pictures of what I'm going to have to do to mount power strearing and an alternator to this. I'm also helping a friend from work put a 5.3L in his 76 vette at the same time if you have some parts or pictures of accessiory drives that would be helpful.
Thanks

ThanksIf you go to http://wi1320.com (http://wi1320.com/) there are a couple of guys who have done 5.3's in stuff . You will have to register but trust me its worth it.

Well I picked up 3 5.3 liters today. With about 80,000 miles on them. I found out my ould 91 chevy has a 4L80E tranny. Which is nice but also adds a twist to the motor swap. Going to need to get a couple of hp tuners or pay some money to get the garbage tuened off and the tranny table converted to a 4L80E.

Well the motor is in. It was just about a complete bolt in. I had to make some motor plate adapters. These sat the motor right down on the original mounts. Because of the bolt locations in the addapters it will move the transmision and transfer case forward a 1/4". Most tranny crossmembers have that much adjustment in them. I stripped out the TBI engine wiring today. I can't wait till the harness and intake show up. This should be running next week.

I did it just last year and everything was a breeze. Mine is an old beater truck but I love driving it around. Thing seems to get great gas mileage but the odometer does not work so I can add it up. You will love the swap. Here are some pics of my junk.

There is no love on this forum for a lsx swap. :(
But it is in and it started right up with 1 1/2 year old gas in it. :jest:
Did you relocate the battery to use the original air cleaner out of the newer truck? I ordered an air filter assembly from a 04 silveraldo. I'm waiting to see what it fits like. I'm considering moving the battery to the drivers side to make room for the air filter. Otherwise I will make a cold air kit and route it to the passenger side.
I haven't driven it yet but if the tranny shifts I'm sure it is going to be a good swap. TBI's have no power and I think i'm about finished with the older sbc's. The LSx has to much to offer right now.

The 1999 Silverado has the air box on the passenger side. I moved the battery over to the driver side and used the 99 silverado air box at first and then came across a free K&N FIPK for a 99 silverado and that bolted up in the 1990 with very little issues. Mine was a TBI V6 so it was a huge improvement. I drive it daily and it has plenty of power, but I would love to add a little boost down the road to help with the towing.

It fires up and idles fine revs up. I haven't driven the truck but it should run good. I need to get a throttle cable on it then its off to the exhaust shop.
Thanks again for tune.

Well I got the throttle cable and ordered some O2 sensors. It's going in for exhaust Thursday or Friday. If everything goes well I think its time to find a LT1 style roller for a 6.0L swap and a wind beater.
It will make for a nice street car.

Just my old work truck but I hope it does better with the trailor behind it now. I wish I had done a 6.0. But I still might in the future.
