Say you came across the oppertunity to purchase a decent LQ4, say $1200 For complete, now among the other things you need, Is that money worth spending, $ to power wise? for a future goal of ohhh say 500rwhp?

For $1200 is could be worth it, but remember that the LQ4 is the truck motor and doesn't carry a high HP rating and has a MUCH lower compression ratio than a stock LS1/6. Would probably be boost friendly though........

Well i've been doing alot of thinking about it, And a built LT, with a shot of Nitro or A supercharger is Fast. It comes down to the "you can make anything run 10's with Money" Situation. My goal is 500RW, and i think an LT stroker with heads and supporting mods fits the bill.

You're going to need a hell of a setup to make 500 RWHP with the LT1/4. MUCH easier with the Gen III/IV stuff for sure.

Eh its not that bad, My friend has a N/A LT 396, AFR ported Heads, Ported Stock intake. All the bolt ons. 12:1 Makes 510 rwhp.

How radical of a cam though??? That's what I'm getting at. There's a big difference in what it takes to do that with a LT vs. LS motor.

Yeah i know, Thats with a custom grind, pretty big cam. I know it takes alot less Mod's for power in an LS, Heck i know a few Cam only LS cars around here making 400rw, But Im just saying I would have around 3K In a STOCK LQ/LS swap when I could Use that 3K torward My existing setup.

Please to not tear apart a B4C car to swap in that torqueless feeling LS1

Are you doing all the work yourself on the project, or are you having someone else swap it in??

If your goal is 500hp, then yes... That might not be a bad route to take. If its going to be stockish, then no... very bad decision.

Yes, I would be doing all the work, but I think i might take shane's advice on no tearing apart the B4C. If i were to do it i'd find some V6 donor car.

Why not just start out with a 98-02 LS1 car then?? You can get a pretty clean one for $5000 - $6000 right now.

Having done the swap, I am still up in the air if it is worth it.
For the money I have in it I could have built a mean LT1.
Granted I can make more HP in a more sociable set up but at this point what does that matter (for me).
NOTE, you get a truck motor, you will need the Fbody accessories b/c the truck stuff wont fit under the stock hood of an Fbody.

dont do it just for the hp numbers. those numbers are almost an arbitrary number. i find it more useful to chase a time (like 12 flat) rather than a hp number, since all dynos read differently. of course all tracks yield different results too.

I honestly like the LT platform as far as sound feel goes, but the LS is great if you plan to tear up the dynos.
