I'm doing a cam swap (crane 227/cc305/Ai/LE/whatever) and I'm definitely going to need a new tune. With full bolt-ons, I have a PCM4less tune and it's sufficient. According to their website, if I have them tune it again, it'll only be $50. Do you think that'll be ok, or should i spend the extra $200+ on a dyno? This is a budget-build so I can't be spending huge amounts of money. Has anyone had any experience with PCM4less doing aftermarket cam tuning?

Go with the reflash.. I had it done from bolt ons to my cc306 and the tune is good, while you might be able to squeeze that extra power out with a dynotune, the reflash is cheaper and it will be pretty close

Depends on how big and how popular the cam is. With something popular and small like the CC503 and the Hotcam, a mail order tune will be plenty sufficient.

If your going to keep the setup for a while I'd probably splurge and get a dyno tune because then you'll know what your putting out, how your a/f ratio is, and how efficient your suspension/driving skills are once you get track times.

Dyno tune hands down. DON'T TRUST MAIL ORDER TUNES!!!!!

Granted most mail orders are on popular cam setups so you might be ok, I still agree with BluBeaSSt on getting a dyno tune. Alvin @ PCM4Less is a personal friend of mine and he does great work on all the cars he tunes. He'll take the time to make sure your car is right. I'd recommend a dyno tune hands down.

As long as you tell Bryan the exact cam specs along with everything else done to your car he will get you I'd say within 5hp of a dyno tune. You figure the amount of tunes that they now have on file for almost any combination out there odds are a $50 reflash will be fine.

Sure a dyno tune would be nice, but for a driver not a racecar then just spend the $50 and save the rest until you really need a dyno tune.

JMHO.

I'm not sayin I'd do it but mail order tunes are great, especially if you aren't done and plan on better heads or something in the future.

Mailorder in your case. You have a setup they've all seen 100 times before. Just do not lie about anything. The more accurate the info you give them, the better your tune will be.

I'd do the mail-order for now since you are on a budget. I'd try and get it in for a dyno-tune when you get the cash so your tuner can do some fine-tuning as well as make sure everything is in check.

I'd have to agree with this.
