Hello all! Its been a long time since I posted. I have been busy with other projects like a killer 79 AMC CJ7 and a cool little Chevette. I finally got around to my poor 1993 Z. In 2018 I was able to get the car registered as an antique here in Delaware. It had to pass inspection 1 last time and it was a huge pain in the ass. Eventually I got the car good enough to pass thier broken sniffer. I know it was broken because when I took the Chevette through a few weeks later I had the same issues and when I questioned them, they admitted the ODB1 test was not maintained. Unfortunately for the camaro, a few of the tunes I had to try were pretty bad and the last one was so lean the car was dangerously hot. The car ran up to a car show the next week after inspection, but never ran right again. I got busy with the other projects and work travel, so the Camaro got pushed to the corner of the shop. Now that it is antique I don't have to take it to DMV anymore, just send them money every 2 years. After messing with sensors, opti, etc a few times in 2018 and 2019, I just walked away. Last year with nothing else to do in the pandemic, I decided to take a look at the car again. I discovered a mouse got in sometime and chewed us some wires, which made sense since my turner pro would not hook up via the OBD port. St this point I decided to gut the inside and fix the damage. After I discovered the damage was minimal I knew what was coming. I made the decision it is time to take the car apart and restore it. So out came the drivetrain first. When I started tearing down the motor I found a few issues. The oil looked and smelled like fuel got in it, which makes sense because of the tunes I tried to pass DMV. The oil pump pick up fell off at some point. The o ring had disintegrated. The main and rod journals looked a little scuffed, the crank is out getting polished. The cam(LPE 211/219) and cam bearings were in worse shape. Upon further inspection the cam springs recommended were wrong too. Luckily the car saw only 7k miles with the cam. The cam is shot and the bearings need to be replaced.
So here i am. Shaun has sold me his LE2 cam and heads. The car is mostly down to its shell and a longterm resto mod is going to happen as time and money allows. The car is a part of our family and not easy to let go. It is still probably one of the best examples of a clean, low mile, lightly modded 4th gens still out there. After learing more skills when restoring the other cars, I am going to take my time and make this one better than before. I am keeping it LTX. The idea of LS swap was considered but it has been done to death and the car is too nice to lose its original heart. I'll be taking pics of the build along the way and I'll come here and update. Here are some of the pictures from the beginning. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210102/aaa8d1d82606bb95b1619fac13e5e890.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210102/1018a80ab70eb07b86a65957bd816d82.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210102/b4145ed37a530c6895ff751348ead18f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210102/fe69a717e3d3fa08da12692e0e0fa5de.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210102/9dacdd7f00b4be2ec31f2c605f54d3fb.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210102/2a3b09d4469547f850433a27c6b0f891.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210102/1e3a6c678b19ecc7edafdb0b835eff2d.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210102/3614bcafed1c82bcd55b43d42548c8c7.jpg

Happy to help man, those heads were good to both me and osie, and that cam works really well in a stock cube 6spd car.

Quick update on the Camaro. Still waiting on some parts for the engine, but been spending time cleaning up 28 years of dirt, grease, and dust. I am preparing the underside for POR 15 and to re do the undercoating in the wheelnwells. The old brake and fuel lines are going to be replaced with staineless. The suspension parts and drive train parts are getting cleaned up and ready for paint and detailing too. At least the bugs will have a nice view of the bottom.
