I'm going to be hardblocking my engine and I'm wondering on how much you can do and still be streetable? 1/2? 3/4? Im Going to push some good amount of boost and I don't think the weak block can take it so I'm going to fill it. Another option
Has anyone converted a sbc block into a lt1 block?

Ellwein would be the man to ask. give him a call and he will tell you. He was doing a half fill when we were there on a swedish guys 1200hp lt1 block that was to be streetable.

a handful of sbc converted to lt1's have been done, be ready to spend a TON of money.

how much boost are you shooting for? more than one person is at 1000+whp on a factory block. Tick is at like 1300whp on methanol on a factory lt1 block. they are running a 355 though (less side loading)

Money inst really a issue. I have allot of buddies with really nice lsx and BBC engines. And I want to keep the lt1. I'm switching to a Haltec 2500 ecu. But I ran 32 psi on a good tune. I changed some things. And thinking on returning it right now and figure I just pull it apart instead and start my build But How and who will do the sbc conversion.

Subscribing. I’m curious about the sbc conversion myself. As well as the block fill. Isn’t one of the negatives about filling is that once filled, you can’t rebuild with that block?

FWIW -- I had a BB Chevy Nova that we filled back in the day that I drove on the street. We left about one inch below the deck and had no issues with it over heating. But as Mercy stated, it raised the oil temp about 20 degrees driving around.

An LT1 should not be as bad. If under 900 HP I wouldn't bother, if over then you should.
