those of you that have finished your garage or ones that are going to what have you done that you liked, disliked or want to do? i'm trying to get everything planed out.

i have the standard 3 car garage and the ceilings are 11'6". right now i have the 2 car section wired with outlets every 8 ft. and insulated. i was planing on having it drywalled and painted till i screwed my back up. the third car section is on hold till the maro can move.

so far i have -

electric wise = i have 3 outlets wired for my compressor and welder only. the 2 car section has outlets every 8 ft or so and the 3 sections by the garage door each have outlets. i plan to add 4-5 more outlets near the 3 for the compressor and welder because that will be the workbench area. the long wall will have outlets every 6 ft or so also.

lighting wise = keeping the 3 normal style lights but adding 9-12 4 ft flor. lights on a different switch.

storage wise = so far there is 6 unfinished cabnets (soon to be painted) and i have 4 office overhead style ones that will be painted.

HVAC is a MUST. Outlets, can't have enough. Fluorescent lighting in the ceiling. Get a cable outlet in a visible corner for those days when you can't decide between wrenching or football.

You cant ever have too many lights and HVAC all the way.

Maybe a nice rug for the Maro to sit on :)

Definately agree with that!! I love cleaning my Formula up and watching football on either saturday or sunday on the TV in my garage. Definately something worth having in there.

Just make a list of everything you want or need to store in the garage. Plan on what storage you need and work around that.

drywall and insulation are a must IMO.

i would like the bare minimum in the garage as far as storing goes but stuff finds its way out there all the time that isn't mine.

drywall and insulation are the #1 priority along with insulating the garage doors and blowing insulation in the attic area.

I know you said you have electrical covered but.....
Retractable drop light with outlets in the middle of the garage ;)
Something small... but it's so nice compared to running extension cords. I use it in the garage, or it's long enough to reach 1/3 of the way down the driveway. Soooo, much better than extension cords.

i have 1 already. i'm torn on if i like it or not. with the ceilings so high the damn thing hangs down quite a ways. i'm thinking about getting the wall mount ones but again i'm not sure if i want them attached to the walls.
