I have a friend that did it and wishes he hadn't. I guess it (in a sense) always felt unfinished to him.
Also, "Jpack" on here has done it on his as well.

I've seen alot of pictures of people who have done it, and it never quite looks as clean as the T-Tops do stock. But maybe I've just never seen a good one.

You just have seen the hack jobs. Mine looks stock right down to the t- top roof panel. Those that have seen it in person can tell ya, my tops fit better than stock. :)

Every fourth gen car is born a t top car. You can even go on GM parts and order the side supports to turn a t top car into a hardtop. When you do the t top conversion it is important to install sub frame connectors. Even with a hard top car they should be on there. The argument has always been there t-top vs. hardtop. There are the die hards that say the hard top is stronger than the t top but no one can provide actual facts to prove that to be true. My personal experience is, with subframe connectors, they are equal. Having and engineering background, I usually over analyze everything and always look at the pros and cons or better ways to do things.

I talked to 6LE awhile ago and I think I remember him saying you had to go to T-Tops before you could go to a Targa Top - I may be remembering wrong though.

That's the best looking one I've ever seen - very clean.
How much does installation go for if a person has all the parts? I'd do it myself, but I'm scared. :jest:

Mine is white because my b-pillar is body colored. Good lord it is impossible to keep clean. :jest:

I usually charge $800 to fit the tops. I painted mine black so it kinda fades away. I didn't like the look of having the red and then black for trim. It looks unfinished to me.

My formula has T-Tops, but I want to do a real targa top conversion on it. I like 6LE's design, but its not a real one although its still very bad ass.

hey jim. where did you get the side strips around the windshield? one of mine has shrunk near the bottom (actually was like that when i got it) and i always wondered if there was a way to just replace that trim.

The metal pieces can be had from GM, that's the ones I was talking about. What I think you need is the actual windshield surround. That part is glued and inserted into a channel around the outside. That part as well is avail. from GM.

yeah i'm talking about the part on the outside of the windshield that runs from the top to under the cowl. down by my cowl on the pass side its about 1/2 inch too short for some reason (i'm guessing it got heat shrunk)
at some point i'll probably replace the windshield since it gets kind of hard to see out of driving into the sun because i think its got some sand chips or something like that

There is a guy here in town that's down at least a dozen. He's good and If you got all the parts, he does it for $250. It looks good but I've never been a TTop guy personally so..? My last three 4th Genners were all TTop cars and I always wante da Hardtop.
My opinion,
Ivan
