Hope these are just gremlins I am working out of the system.
Car died after I got to work a few months ago, 45 miles to Georgetown De, would not start after work, luckily have good friends, guy comes down with a trailer, gets it to his shop wiring harness in steering column fried.
Now this past weekend drive to the beach, 45 miles or so, car has been running fine the whole time, wont start, fuel gauge is pegged past full, little less than 1/2 in the tank, no buzz and no press at the fuel rail, this is on Sat, Sunday same friend comes with trailer takes it up to his shop to troubleshoot.
Not sure if I can stand getting stranded again, hate unreliable cars.
Just venting.

Reliable and 23 year old car dont usually go hand and hand.... BUT, you will figure it out and it might make it another 45 miles or 4500 miles.
Thats the beauty of not having a car payment and watching your vehicle loose %50 of its value the first 5 years you own it while paying interest...

Had that problem a few months ago, ended up being wire harness in the column, maybe this time its the pump. I am looking at the racetronix unit for the Impala. I have the hot wire kit already.
U recommend anything?

Check the connector for the pump and gauge. On the F-Body (I realize you have a B-Body) it's a single connector near the rear axle, with a 12 volt wire for the pump, a signal (resistance) wire for the level float, and a common ground. The fact your fuel gauge is at the max reading probably indicates an open circuit. May be as simple as a bad ground wire, affecting both the pump and the gauge.
The F-Body has a fuel pump prime connector near the PCM that bypasses the fuel pump relay and the PCM fuel enable system. If the Impala has similar, it's a way to test the pump.

I hate to hear you're having issues. It is definitely not fun troubleshooting things like this, especially when you like to drive your car long distances.
CTS-V payments aren't that bad for what you get in return. :) I am a little biased. haha

If u don't mind a few miles there are some awesome deals, and if u don't mind no Recaro's even better  But I would need Recaro's!
I had an 05 V LS-6, so I tasted the LS Kool-Aid, and want more, lol

I was specifically looking for a car without Recaros, because I have heard they are not friendly to people over 6'/250 haha. Meaning, uncomfortable. I would have taken them when I bought mine though, but I wasn't very picky. The important thing is to stay away from Black Raven unless you find a gem that was taken care of.
The cars can be had for mid to high 20's with the right miles and options (or lack there of). I see them ALL the time in that range.
I can talk about the platform for days, I am truly in love with it. Well, love/hate at the moment due to my own modding dilemma, but I've hijacked enough.
Keep us posted!

Yea I know, but my 05 lever left me stranded, got lucky, and the diff held up while I had it, and its just the peril of dealing with older cars. I'll just press on with the BEASST!!

UPDATE!!
Received a text from my electrical guru last night, really did not expect it. Car is back up and running. And this is just thru text, have not talked to him or seen it, he says the ground for the hot wire harness was to the tank strap, probably should of been a dedicated ground to chassis, shorted out the plug in the tank and fried the plug and the pump, probably glad it did not start a fire or worse, so he took care of all the bad wiring, plug, ground, added another ground in the tank, and a new AC Delco pump. So hopefully should be good for a while, and I have no clue how old the pump was in it, so and least I am starting fresh now.

Well picked up the car Saturday, new in tank pump harness, new pump, and the hot wire harness relay properly grounded to chassis, but still not sure why it fried the in tank harness, and did not blow the fuse for the hot wire harness at the alt. But it seems to run fine, maybe even a little better, and starts much easier, the check ball in the old pump was dead, would bleed pressure off in a matter on minutes.
Till next time, and I drove it to work today and ran good.
