Just got mine ready for the year so I wanna see everyone else's tow rigs

I just did Allison Transmission, 4 Highway tires, upper and lower ball joints, sway bar links and bushings, inner and outer tierods, tow mirrors, and new black and red grille

the truck itself is a 2001 Silverado 2500HD, 8.1L W/Allison Tranny, 8ft Box, 240K and RUST FREE rockers, cab corners and box (not common in Minnesota where we have salt on the roads 6 months of the year)

LETS SEE EVERYONES

I dont own a tow rig... but last year I borrowed this beautiful 24' enclosed from Cahall @ American-Powerhouse to get my TA to the shootout.

Good chance if I cant find a trailer to buy for this once a year trip... Ill be asking to borrow it again.

The 6.0 awd Escalade is mine though.... and although a lil heavy, she pulled like a champ...

We don't use the trailer to take the car anywhere anymore. It always gets driven. It does spend the winter in it though.373673736837369

I have towing on my policies as well, but AAA is fairly flexible with towing/unlocking vehicles not owned by you. Couldn't tell you how many vehicles I had towed and I wasn't even present for lol. Or they were missing tags/insurance/etc. Even towed a tractor once or twice. A lot of that depends on having an "in" with a tow truck operator, though. They also have a notary, travel, insurance options, and more.

edit- I even had my TBSS towed to a shop 45min away a few times when I didn't feel like driving it out for mods and then get a ride back. They have cracked down on some of that, though. But I always get my free 3 tows/yr in haha.

thanks! but looks can be deceiving lol it needs rockers and cab corners and the clear coat is gone on the roof. had the bed fixed up and re-sprayed last winter, next is cab work after the motor swap.

In a Silverado? Lucky, those are hard to find.

01 Silverado 2500HD 6.0L and 4L80E here, 190k on the clock. I've only towed with it a couple times.

yes sir, went to look at a 05 2500 ext cab long box but it was a pile so on the way home I stopped at a friends house for a beer and told him about it and he mentioned his neighbor was selling his truck. didn't even know it was a 8.1 till I popped the hood after the test drive

Little blue 2001 Silverado extended cab only had a 4.8L V8, but a higher numerical gear ratio and the tow package. Slowed a bit on really steep hills, like Rt 78 westbound, after crossing the Delaware into PA, but otherwise no problems.

Was the library in the center of campus or on Bleeker?

Injuneer
01-27-2017, 12:13 AM
There was no "campus".... it was still NCE. Just a few buildings along High St. (changed to MLK Blvd in 1980, 13 years after the riots). Central High School was in the middle. Cullimore Hall was brand new and had the cafeteria.

There was a chemical engineering building further north on High Street, closer to the train tracks. St. Barnabas had a nursing school near there. The Chem E majors actually got to see females. Can't remember which building the library was in. Didn't have its own building. There was a tiny gym several floors up in a building just south of Central HS. Pretty sure that's been torn down.

Haven't really used it much to tow cars, but that should be changing soon. I tow our expo stuff for work all over the place and use it plenty around the farm. 2006 LBZ truck. Studded, Garrett Stage 1 turbo, Baby FASS system and a really light tune via HP Tuners. It looks rough as heck but runs nice.

Just drove it to Kentucky to get my engine this past week. I'll go back for a truck show in Louisville at the end of March. It sees a lot of road and off-road duty. I'd actually rather take it on a long trip than our CTS- Tire noise and all.
