I didn't realize I had THIS much sitting in the house. Some is in the fridge, fair game for drinking. A LOT is in the pantry to age.

I'm part of the Pour Misfits crew, one of the guys did a "stash flash" post on the facebook page. I drunk.....I mean drug everything out to snap a pic and went holy crap. I think it's time I get a set of shelves in the basement ready.

Anyone else a craft beer fan?

In that pic there's irish stout, canadian blonde, octoberfest, bavarian wiesbeer, grand bohemian pilsner. along with a big batch of classic american light with an ABV boost. and you thought hotrods were an expensive hobby. LOL.

And I'll willingly share with any member that wants to drop bye and have a cold one or two or three.

I've upgraded to basement shelves:

Been doing some stocking up and a lot of drinking recently, mainly sharing with a local buddy. Have a contact on the Corvette Forum who's hooking me up with a bunch of local tampa stuff to include a couple of bottles of Cigar City Marshal Zhukov stout that was just released on Monday.

I've actually got a bit more up there already, and that pic was just taken a couple weeks ago. Added a few bottles of Second Tier Creme' Brulee and Choklat Oranj stouts (Both VERY good stuff). Most of the stuff that's up there is more limited in availability like the Founders KBS, Dark Horse Bourbon Barrel Aged Scotty Karate and 2014 Plead the 5th Stout, Sagatuk Bourbon Barrel Aged Neopolitan Stout, New Holland Dragons Milk Reserve variants (Raspberry Lemon and Chocolate Coffee), and Prairie Birthday Bombs. Thanks to my buddy I actually have a 14, 15, and 16 Vertical of KBS up on the top shelf.

I just had my first Bud Light and Bud last week on a whim and couldn't stand them. Watered down flavorless crap. I mainly stick to the darks like Stouts (my favorites), Porters, and Browns, but fancy a good crisp IPA, Amber, or Blonde when the mood strikes.

My interest in craft beer has been developed over the past 10 years.

My oldest son (aka "Beard") works for Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown, NY. He started as a brewer about 6 years ago, after giving up a decent career in audio engineering. Got promoted to supervising brewer, and is now the Innovation Manager. He basically works with marketing and the brewmaster to come up with new products, helps develop the recipe, tests the brew in pilot plant, submits test batches to distributors and consumers for feedback. He's been involved with developing the brews for the Game Of Thrones collaboration series.

Since Duvel Moortgat also owns Boulevard in Kansas City and Firestone Walker in Paso Robles, he gets to work with his counterparts there. Ommegang recently won the World Beer Cup title for best mid-size brewing company.

Needless to say, we get a steady supply of Ommegang brews. When we're in Cooperstown, there's a substantial employee discount. When Beard comes to NJ, we hit a local pub that has 110 taps, and amazing products from all over the world. We still have hops that he planted 10 years ago climbing our porch every summer.

Enough..... I need a brew!

Houston has a decent scence, it really started with Saint Arnolds now they're are several craft brews. I also like trying some of the stuff from over seas, there's a great dark brew from Peru called Tres Cruces (Or how ever the hell you spell 3 crosses in spanish).

That's pretty cool, it's always admirable for people to break away from the safe and steady to chase their dreams.

I've never heard of a craft beer from Houston. I'll have to be on the lookout.

Indiana is growing and getting quite the high marks with sun king and 3 Floyd's. We just can't compete with the IPA craze using Midwest hops (really floral) compared to the Pacific coast.

I guess they're trying to grow some of the more citrus/piney strains but they're still a few years off.

Injuneer thats awesome. I bet he is loving life there.

Indiana is chasing Michigan IMO. Three Floyds, 18th Street, Flat 12, Upland, Four Fathers (one of my favorites) among others. But michigan takes it with Founders, Bells, DarkHorse, and New Holland alone.

Speaking of, I went to Detroit last weekend to look at a car. Came home with over $200 worth of junk in the trunk.

I agree.

We're still behind Michigan but are a growing movement down here. Michigan has been at it for a while now and have some OG breweries.

Important lesson... do what you like best, and success is more likely. He took a significant pay cut, but cost of living in Cooperstown, NY is dirt cheap. He bought a nice three bedroom house on 26 acres, for a fraction of what it would cost in a less rural area.

Hops.... Ommegang plans to brew a new version of "Hopstate NY 20xx" each year, working to improve the image and quality of NY grown hops. At one time (like 150+ years ago), central NY was the leading source of hops in the US, but it died out. Now they are trying to rebuild the hop farming. My son has been working with local farmers to develop the strains required, and using them in his pilot plant brews.

World of beers in new Brunswick? Or what is the local spot you hit for 110 taps? Curious

I'm not super into these. But I like Kane ipa, it's from ocean County nj, I think you can only get it on tap in jersey. Really really good, not too hoppy.

Maloney's Pub & Grill, 119 Main St., Matawan. Good burgers too.

The Kane brewery in Neptune is worth the visit. I took growlers of their Head High and Overhead IPA's to an event at the Cooperstown Inn. Everybody at their "Bed & Brew" tasting really enjoyed them. Check out Carton Brewing in Atlantic Highlands as well. Ommegang came out with Nirvana IPA this year, and it's a big hit.

So I got this package today from a Corvette Forum buddy down by Tampa.

http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i177/Fastbird93/0818161200_zps89nwqzfm.jpg (http://s72.photobucket.com/user/Fastbird93/media/0818161200_zps89nwqzfm.jpg.html)

I keep my drinking stuff in the fridge and my backups and stuff being aged....well.......filling up quick. If you see it, don't ask how much the Bells Black Note cost. It was gruesome.

This is what I brought back from Detroit. There's some pretty good stuff. 2014 Arcadia BBA Shipwreck Porter, 2014 Bells Double Cream Stout, 2014 Stone Imperial Stout, 2015 Sam Adams Merry Maker Gingerbread Stout, etc. I just had one of the Nickel Brook Brewing (Canadian) Bolshevik Bastard stouts and it was EXCELLENT.

And Ben (Call911) HOOKED IT UP recently. Not really craft beer, but he hit the motherland and brought me back an assortment.

This just happened yesterday. 400+ mile round trip (2012 Passat TDi FTMFW, was getting 50+ MPG), Almost 10 hours, 5 breweries, and about $300 later........

Hit DarkHorse twice (once for stuff for a friend and I, second time for a case and a half case of brewery only release stuff for the local guys here), Bells, Arcadia, Shorline, and Four Fathers.

im not to much of a craft beer guy there some locals around here that are huge such as Surley and Fulton, I enjoy Excelsior Brewing myself if I do go that route. I have nothing to compare but I feel MN has a HUGE community of local and craft beer. im about 20 min SW of the Twin Citys (St. Paul and Minneapolis) and we have a brewery or more in 3 of my surrounding citys. Also one of our tech schools DCTC just opened up a micro brewery program! I like my keystone tho lol!

You hooked me at Surly. Darkness is one that has eluded me. I have a guy who wants to do a trade with me but he's asking too much (4x Bells Black Note which is $25 a bottle on the secondary market) considering he is offering a non barrel aged single bottle. So I continue to look, lol.

Minnesota has a GREAT supply of breweries. I have a friend who lives near Minneapolis and if I ever get up there to see him it's going to be game on, lol.

Surly Brewery is prob one of the coolest places here, beautiful building, nice restaurant and giant fireplaces on a huge patio. you have to go if you ever make it up here

I will say I enjoy Nitro Milk Stout if anyone has ever had one
