Those with a single plane or other SBC intake what are you doing with the distributor hole? I'm switching to CNP next year and I'm trying to decide if I can kill two bids here, like using a cam sync distributor. Of if I should just weld the hole and use the EFI Connection sensor that replaces the opti.

Basically a vortec style distributor with the 24x wheel in it. Looks nice and clean

Another vote for the vortec setup for the cam sensor. Its slightly cheaper than running the 24x timing cover setup and lets you ditch the plastic hold down in valley.

That being said, you will need a quality piston stop, or timing marker to setup the dizzy. Otherwise you get to stare at a SES and have extended cranks. Nothing related to performance but can be annoying. Installing in a 4th gen engine bay can be tricky but I was able to do it solo. If you are lucky the oil pump and dizzy will drop together with no issue.

I run a standard msd small cap distributor # 8570 modified to be a cam sync and a MSD crank trigger. It seems to work well with my limited time on the setup. http://ls1tech.com/g/picture/5451783
This is a pic of the engine compartment. It does not show much but the install looks clean. The distributor is a PITA to get to with a limited cut cowl. I will most likely do some more cutting to get more clearance.

The EFI dizzy is most likely the eBay late vortec piece with their $30 short cap on it.

Thanks guys, yes @firebird_1995 (http://ltxtech.com/forums/member.php?u=4287) that's what got me thinking but it said something about it being a specific shaft for the vortec and 4.3 only. I couldn't find the other part number they referred to. Just trying to decide if I want to run their front sensor (replaces the opti) or a distributor one. I'm hesitant with the distributor style because of room/access and getting it synced again if I pull the intake for some reason.
Nostang 96z, what vacuum pump are you using?

96LT1355Z28 It is a GZ motorsports setup for sbc/lt1's. I have it pulling about 7-8" vacuum at 7k.

Syncing the dizzy is easy, get a nice hold down and stud though.

EFI has a nice pdf on syncing it and if you take your time with it, is simple.

FYI, if you are using a 24x harness you will need to repin for the vortec vs cam sensor from 24x.
