I hear by changing the rod bolts the LT1 will live alot longer at high RPMs, now my question is can this be done with the motor still in the car? Seems like you could just pull the oil pan etc and change them while still in the car by looking at my extra short block at home.
Has anyone done this or do you have to pull apart the entire motor???
If you can? Id like to do it on my current set up, if not ill just wait for my stroker motor to be done.
Thanks

This has to be done with the motor out of the car. Old bolts need to be pressed out, new ones pressed in. This is followed by having the rods resized. I would just wait for the stroker

Damn someone else said it could be done in the car. I wanted to do this to make my current set up last alittle longer, Not sure how soon I can get the stroker done and Im spinning to 6700-6800 now.

I am sure that the person that told you rod bolts could be installed in the car was thinking you had an Ls1.
to be honest with you if you are attempting to go that far you should just buy new rods and forged pistons along with main studs and get the block machined. it's more money but insurance is a plus

Im building a stroker now and doing all that good stuff. If it was a easy as it looks this would worked perfect untill the stroker is done and he knows I have a LT1 not a LS1

Well thats not gonna work!:jest:JK
But it will see alot of track time. Maybe once a week or every other week.

Seems like a lot of work for what you'll get out of it. I'd just wait until you build your stroker...

I know...i was thinkin you would say that, however,i actually meant to not be at that rpm all the time like daily driving etc.
i am sure you are gettin ready to hit the track with your new set up!

Hell ya I cant wait for winter to be over to test out the current set up.
The car isnt a DD. Just sits in the garage and waits to be waxed and raced! Will prob only see 1000 miles a year on the street and I wont be beating it then.

you got all winter to get it done though. We rushed to get mine to the track but the last minute they canceled and closed the track and it was decent out. Pissed me off bad!!!!

Yeah I would just wait to, plus isnt it a pain to get the oil pan down around the subframe?
