As long as our sponsors do not have an issue with it, I have no issue passing on a good deal to our members. Sponsors, please notify me if this post is an issue for u or ur business.

Bottles are "certified" for 5 years from the manufacture date stamped into the bottle near the neck. After that, they cannot be legally refilled until tested and decertified. A new date gets stamped in the bottle, good for another 5 years. Obviously, not every shop will refuse to fill an expired tank.

In NJ you are required to have a permit from the Dept. of Health & Aging, in order to buy or possess nitrous oxide (at least that's the way it was 5 years ago). It is classified by the State as a "controlled dangerous substance" (drug). Haven't been to the strip in a while, but I remember many years ago when the NJ State Police would show up at Englishtown, looking at permits and bottle expiration dates. Not sure if they still do that.

Got them in today. Both are stamped 10/13 on the bottle.
I checked on a big cylinder this year. They told me there is Nitrous oxide then there is nitrous plus. The nitrous plus does not require a licensesto buy and contains a chemical if you huff it it will make you puke your guts out, so they told me

Unfortunately, in NJ, they don't differentiate between the pure stuff a dentist might buy, and the spiked stuff they sell to racers. One of the check boxes on the permit application refers to automotive use. Sounds like you got a good deal on the bottles. I've got three 10# bottles and they are all expired. Last time I had one certified, I think it was around $40.
