I'm pretty simple to please so i would not go out and buy some mansion. I would have my house remodeling finished and my garage addition finished and id finish my car's and try to buy the property behind my house. At that point i could do whatever I wanted for the rest of my life without ever having to worry about money.

Too many ideas, too many dreams. I'm a sap so here's what comes to mind.

- Try and tell no one initially of course
- Pick up nice cars for my immediate family (father/mother in-law included), drive each one to their work while they are there. Go in and just tell them you don't need to be here any more. Show them their new car.
- Make plans to get close family setup in a new home if they wish or get their current place paid off.
- I would need my close friends to keep up with my new life style so their toys would need to be upgraded. I would help see if they were interested in business ventures suiting their professional skills (seed money).
- My wife would get the best MS/general medical treatment $ can afford.
- Probably adopt a kid or two, help out with charity events (sponsor/manage), etc.

I would buy a lot of cool cars and LS swap them all, probably start buying turbos by the pallet. I've always wanted to take a vette and a MKIV supra and flip flop their motors just to piss people off.

Then i would build a huge warehouse to house all my toys in one corner of, and the rest of the warehouse I would do something like Manoj Bhargava (The creator of 5hr Energy) he funds "tinkerers" to create ways to solve world problems like turn salt water into useable water, or provide energy for 3rd world countries. Too many things I'd like to do really, not to sound sappy but I know I'd want to help some people less fortunate, try to help some people get clean and have a future. Take care of family and friends. For me personally, I'd have a very nice climate controlled environment for some cool toys and two cars I've always wanted, a 30th anniversary SS and a 68 RS/Z28.

After that I'd buy every car iv ever dreamed bout wanting. From there I'd prob buy or build a new performance / restoration shop and run that.

These discussions are always fun, haha.
That is a staggering amount of money. Since money worries are obviously out of the picture at that point, my priorities would be centered around staying true to who I am, not letting it all go to my head, and maintaining at least some level of privacy and anonymity in my life. In short, avoiding the personal problems that all too often arise when people reap huge windfalls and don't quite know what they're doing. Half a billion dollars in liquid cash assets is literally more money than 95% of folks out there know what to do with, and many end up no happier or fulfilled in life than they were before. I wouldn't want that to happen to me.

First thing I'd do is hire an attorney, an accountant, and a financial adviser. All of whom were not related to me in any way and had substantial experience with wealthy clients who insist on keeping an ultra low profile. I'd make this move even before I claimed the prize. In my state you don't have to reveal your identity, so I wouldn't. Privacy is one thing that would become an issue once word got out, so I'd assign it a very high priority from the start.

I'd probably then go about locking down and/or deleting most or all of my social media presence. I'd have my phone number changed, and I'd move away from my current address within days. Last thing I would want is a big crowd of "new" or "old" "friends" I've either never known well or haven't seen in 10 years suddenly having a desire to contact me.

After me and my attorney felt I had the privacy protocols taken care of, I'd claim the prize. Some family and close friends and a couple charities and causes I support would likely get nice windfalls. My lifestyle would of course change. I'd buy a nice house and probably a couple of vacation homes, along with some investment property and a large farm or ranch. I'd do a lot of traveling and go fishing a lot more than I do now. I'd spend a lot of time working out and staying in great physical shape. At some point I'd probably have to go back to working at least part-time doing something I enjoy. I could not fathom just being idle for the rest of my days.

well I gave in and bought my first lotto ticket last night, actually two lol I agree with hellteeone about wanting to stay anonymous in claiming the prize. quite a bit of it would go to fixing my parents houses up and making sure they could retire comfortably asap, then take care of my sisters college debt and make sure she is set for life as well. some would go to my family members and close friends so they are comfortable and probably donate a bunch to various charities. for me, I want decent sized house with a lot of land and a barn/garage with 10ft ceilings for lifts and lots of storage and fill it up with al my dream cars/trucks and other various 2 stroke or 4 stroke toys as well

After taxes I'd be looking at a little less than half.

I would buy a a large parcle of land and sanctuary it fill it with native species, hire security ect. To protect it.
I would setup an animal dog/cat sanctuary and hire a huge staff with disgusting amenities for the critters. A utopia until they find good homes.

I'd build A(with my own hands)a house/estate in Alaska, NH and in my home shit state. Hire a plane/crew to shuttle me back and forth.

I figure dividend and interest from what's left would fund it all along with anything else my family needs or wants.
