And it's not over.
Yesterday was spent finish mudding and sanding, then primering in the evening.
Today has been spent painting the ceiling. Went through almost 4 gallons of Behr Latex Flat ceiling paint. It's DONE though, the ceiling at least.
Tomorrow is going to entail as much as I can get done from about 0700 until I have to go to job #2 (Gov't holiday at least)......There's a 30 foot wall, a 40 foot wall, and a whole host of other smaller walls.
I have tuesday night off from Auto Zone, so it'll be spent finishing the painting.
Tuesday night, Wednesday and Thurdsay nights (after 2130 when I get home from a day at BOTH jobs all day) will be spent removing the old carpet, which will SUCK because whoever had it put in freaking GLUED the old pad to the cement. :(
Friday the new carpet goes in on top of new 8# pads. It's a Mohawk Frieze, sandy color with color flecks. Not my top choice, but it wears well and hides stains like nothing else (cats).
Saturday we're moving the entertainment center stuff down and arranging all the furniture, and have to take our main couch downstairs until we can afford a new or slightly used sectional.
Got a KILLER deal though on a mini-fridge for the workout corner of the basement. It was at Home Depot, a little 4.0 cubic foot Magic Chef with a stainless front. Retail was $169. This one was sitting out, had a dent on the lower rear, a pretty good one. Tag said $110. Plus 10% military, got it for $100. Dent will NEVER be seen because we put a cutout in the wall and a platform for this little fridge and will trim around it.
Pics forthcoming sometime this week, before, progress, after. Biggest hurdle during the carpet install will be moving the 8' one inch slate pool table.
I'm dead. Got a card game to go to now. Have some brews and hopefully win some money.

Ha, sounds like my week minus the military job and autozone.
we got a trade on a house and we had to go through and repaint the whole thing and patch all the walls.

Naa, Soul and I put them up just for the admins. We want to make sure everyone knows who we are. It's just an easy way to ensure that new reg's can identify us in case they have a problem.
Plus, they look bad-ass.
You guys can get them if you guys ever become admins..... :face_shocked:

Ok, so I took second in the card game last night, only due to a STUPID mistake on my part. I didn't recognize the potential straight on the table and was holding kings over jacks. I'd been eating away at the only other player left for quite some time and was up on chips. I went all in, and he says "well, I know what you're representing, and I know what I have, so I'll bite." I looked at the cards and went "SONOFA!!!!"
Table was showing K J 10 8 7.......I didn't pick up on the stright at all. I tossed my two pair, he came out with the nine. Still walked with money though.
Today, up at 0830 (late dang it), just finished my first coat on the side walls after a solid three hours. Going to go back and do one more coat here in about another 15-20 minutes. It's big enough that I can do the same paint pattern a second time and everything will be dry by the time I get to it.
Teaser pic attached. Ceiling is Behr Ultra White Flat Ceiling Paint, walls are Behr base satin and color is Arabian Sands.

i hate drywall. hanging isn't too bad but the sand and finish sucks. im getting ready to do my 3 car garage and i'm not loking forward to it at all. the painting is going to be just as bad too. 11' 6" tall ceilings are gona suck.

Second and final coat done. Just have to edge, touch up some spots where I hit the ceiling, and get the carpet ripped out.

i fucking hate all that kind of work. just did my living room today. did my mom's whole doctor office once. it sucked. we kept running into more and more work that wasnt on the bid and ended up not making very much money cuz materials cost more than we projected. sucked and took forever.

I'm finding that I actually enjoy seeing the end result of all the work on my basement. I'm actually fully convinced that if I didn't have the cars, I'd be doing home improvement stuff all the time.
I dont know if I have the patience to finish a project like this. Props to you.

It was a lesson in patience. The basement was half done since May of 07. With the kid on the way I found it as a now or never type of thing.

About four hours south of Chi-Town or else I'd hit you up as I need to recarpet the rest of the house.
Sadly, I have a feeling I'm going to HATE the carpet going in (Frieze). I'm much more of a cut pile type of person.

Yeah thats alittle far for us. But you will prob be happy with the frieze. 99% are it just takes alittle getting use to and looks alot less shaggy when its installed. It also wears better because it has a tighter twist than a texture/plush and springs back longer. Only thing is on stairs and heavy traffic areas it shows layover(matting down) but comes back up after you vacuum.
Anyways its a smart choice for most people and Im sure your wife loves how stylish it is!LOL!

I agree 100%, thats why I love doing constuction for a living, but with the economy the way it is, and the whole northeast side of GA having enough houses sitting to last for 5 years, I gotta look into doing something different.

Well, Carpet is ripped up save for the closet and stairs, and the pad that was half GLUED to the foundation is also about 80% up. I freaking STABBED my index finger on a staple when I started ripping the carpet off the stairs so I took that as a hint to take a break.

I actually didn't think it was that bad. Looked, little drop of blood, no biggie. Grabbed the pliers, went back to work. Thirty seconds the pliers slipped out of my hand. I was like WTF?!?! Looked down and my hand was just smeared in red. :D

Ugh.....ALL carpet is out, only pad is left on the stairs now. Going to finish it off tomorrow night after a 14 hour day between the two jobs (0730-1630 and 1700-2130 straight from one to the other).
I HATE pulling all the damn staples on stairway padding.

So I just totally plundered the ATM downstairs from my work. Seven transactions for $300 each........Let me say that I'm NOT Looking forward to walking around with $2100 in my pocket until I get home tonight. Going to stick it in the save at AutoZone tonight while I'm there just to be safe.

LOL! Stairs are the fucking worst!!!!! Before I got into sales thats all I did was deliver the new flooring and rip out the old. Ive been stabbed by those staples so many times I cant even begin to count, probably gallons of bloods Ive lost over the years. Whats worse is when you kneel on one!

Whats worse is when you kneel on one!
Want no part of that. I made sure I wore shoes and watched wherever I sat or kneeled very carefully. I screwed up while I was cleaning the back room a few weeks ago and stepped on a board w/a nail, driving it into my heel to the bone. No fun there.

we have taller carpet up stairs. not sure what its called but its taller than normal stuff but not shag. its a pain in the ass to vacume i'll tell you that. but it looks great and is soft.
downstairs there is burber(sp) and i don't like it. i guess its ok for a game room/ extra living room but once we finish the rest of the basement i'm tempted to go a different route.
our house was a display so we didn't have any input on that stuff.
