Fastbird

I knew it was coming, I chose to go this route, but it's still gut wrenching. This is what's left of the purple car leaving my possession today:

This was not a light decision on my part. It was very painfully deliberated over for a good amount of time. What it boiled down to was that simply having a title free of leins for my Corvette in hand was more important. I loved my T/A, but in the end, it was never going to be "THAT" car for me. The ultra clean, spotless, turn key car I wanted it to be. It was going down the race car road and I wasn't enthralled, but tried to push through with the modifications for the past couple of years. Just didn't happen. I couldn't really sell it whole for what it was worth, might have gotten $10, MAYBE 12K for it all together, tuned and running. I made over $16K parting it out.
Am I having mixed feelings? Sure. I've had this car since 2003, and was only the 3rd owner and was friends with the second owner who bought it at 40K miles. Had a lot of fun with this car, and always loved how low it sat, how the Firehawk hood just went with it, and the color. Do I regret it? A part of me does. It's hard tearing anything you've put so much time and effort into. But it was necessary.
THe hardest thing for me is that since buying my first car back in February of 1996, I've NEVER not had a Firebird/Trans Am under my ownership save for a 4 week period in 2000 when I lemon law returned the 1999 T/A I had just bought. I'll always be a Firebird guy at heart, but I'm definitely a Corvette guy now too (that changed my first go around with my C5).
Is this the end of my LTx ownership? I don't know. A LTx C4 would be nice, and I'll freely admit with the right timing, if I happened upon a 95 T/A, white with red interior, six speed car, I'd snag it. But I'm not going out of my way for one unless it feels right. This does NOT mean I'm leaving this community. I'm not going anywhere. I know a lot of you and I talked at the shootout, some who knew me, some who didn't. I'm always going to support this site and the shootout.
