I mean it was absolutely disgusting....I have owned quite a few Camaro's, LSx vehicles, etc...Haven't made a pass in 8 years. My stock 01 SS M6 ran 13.02 @ 107 back in '06.

Just got back in the game, stock 97 Z28 m6. Put a set of BMR LCA's on and headed to the track with stock BFG 245/50/16 street tires. On the first pass, I managed a 2.1 60', shifting into 3rd resulted in a set of loud 2-3 bangs, left it in "neutral" and coasted to a 17second pass. Thought something broke, checked the car over and everything looked fine. Next pass was a 2.0 60' and granny shifting, couldn't get into 4th so again I cruised to a 14.8 second pass. I can hit every gear just fine on the street, I don't get it. I've never missed a gear with my old M6 F-body's. What's even more strange, is now the trans shifts so much smoother and doesn't feel "notchy" when going into gear. I'm planning on doing a 9" and putting the rest of the bolt-on's this winter. I just did the coolant bypass on the TB and now the car drives so much smoother, I took the TPS or IAC, can't remember which, off when doing it, the car doesn't bog when shifting in traffic, very strange.

I'll post up some times after we get a cool enough day for me to make some decent times. I was hoping for high 13's, so we'll see. It's really got me thinking of going to a 400/4L80e.

Maybe it was just rust man? I mean no offence either!

I went to the track for the first time ever back in August. I couldn't launch for shit there, but on the street I can so easily. Same with shifting. I granny shifted so hard. I was shifting at like 4800 rpms and by best pass was 14.86 lol. I'm no expert but I think if I shift higher I can do a little better. I know next time I'll be a lot better. I chalk it up to fatigue really getting me. I only got 2 hours of sleep the night before so it didn't help.

I learned a lot about my car that day too. I'm much more aggressive(in a good way) in how I drive it now. No more 4800 shifts [emoji38] , my street launches are getting better, and my overall shifting is better now. I wouldn't sweat it. Dump the crappy stock shifter too. That doesn't help much.

I used to have issues from time to time with the factory stick , I modified it and it helped but the issue still happened. I finally switched to the umi short stick and it's crazy how much better it is , i have not missed a shift yet .

Now i don't know if you are having this issue but with my old pacesetter headers i had they set right next to my clutch hydraulic line and it was boiling the fluid snd causing me to have issues , it was mostly at the track .

Launching on a sticky track in a stick can be tricky as well... get some more seat time in there.

Tell us more about ur cars engine mods... mileage. Clutch. Etc.

LTXtech.com IS my drug...

What he said ^
Mine has a small cam, headers, rockers, rebuild. etc and i was very dissapointed the first time i took it down the track and ran a 14.5
It took me like three trips to the dragstrip before i was able to pull it into the thirteens. Each time you get a little better. Now i have ran a best of 13.4 on the same mods that i ran a 14.5

2.0 60 ft on street tires is great in my opinion, thats the absolute best i have ever hit. I usually do like 2.2 or 2.3

Make sure when you shift, you rev it out as far as you want to go. I started out shifting mine right after 5k and now i shift above 6k. Although my cam allows for a higher rpm, if its a factory cam just make sure you get all the way up to that 5500 mark or so.

I never missed a gear with my stock shifter. Changed to a hurst, now ive missed a few but its still a nice tight shifter. I dont dislike it enough to switch back to stock.

As far as missing a gear, when you shift don't try to kill it and not even let out of the gas. Also dont lag it too much. Shifting needs to be just like you were trying to make a smooth shift with your mom in the car driving normally. Except faster lol.

Point is, if you continue to rev the engine as you clutch, or alternativley completely let off the gas, its going to make it not want to shift. Of course this is simple stuff that i'm sure you know. It's just a lot harder to do when all you want to do is make a fast pass.

I'm still a beginner by far, probably only 100 passes under my belt and thats in the last year. I learn more every time i go though.
