View Full Version : Headlights/fog upgrades?

Hey guys, I think this is the right section.

Anyways, I have a night class this semester and well my headlights suck. . They are an oil lamp compared to my parent's Enclave. I have mediocre night vision too..

Are there any upgrades out there besides Blackbird Lighting? I would like those, I just don't have the money to fork over because college kid. Maybe someone should buy me them?

Been looking into HIDs in the fogs. I know the blinding issue, its just that there is almost always nobody on the road on my way home from school. Also, there are Eurolights. I have no idea if they are good or bad. I know there is an "upgraded" headlight from silvania, but those are crap too. My car had them and I wasn't paying extra for diarrhea lol.

I'd like to not run over people in my camaro. Any other car, y'all better look out! [emoji38]

Any input/advice? And as always, thank you.

I'm running the hids in the fog lights. they are plenty of light to run at night by themselves. Although people do tell me they are blinding and I get the occasional last second bright light flash that people like to do these days.

As for headlights i installed the h4s in mine with the aftermarket housings of some sort and they were about the same brightness as stock. The housing is nothing fancy, but its new...I got then with the car.

I'm thinking about getting some hid bulbs to fit the h4 housing...I happen to have some ballasts...but hid kits that fit h4 housings are cheap anyway.

Also in my studying for this, I have found you can get the bulbs with the shields on them to help from blinding people so much.

I'm still learning on it like you, but there's what I kinda have done. Hopefully someone can give us more info

Edit: in conclusion I think your cheapest easiest bet would be hid fogs. Huge uphrade in brightness.

If you can manage to mount up a correct projector housing for HID in the fog location, that would be your best economical bet IMO.

I <3 BLS HID kit

For the fogs, I've heard of the housing melting. That's my biggest fear ya know.

Aside from that, what exactly do I need to make this "bolt in". Do I only need a 35W ballast and bulb? Or are there other parts I need?

Believe me, I'm seriously considering buying the BLS light for next year. They look amazing.

I could always try to fit these in the fogs. Lol I had them in my headlights before and took them out in a week.

Okay, well I'll see how much those are.

Edit: Found these, long ass URL too lol. I think I will use the angel eyes I have if I do go towards a path of removing the fogs. I don't really dig a circle in a square hole that much but we'll see.

They are bright as hell though..

I recently did Hella housings (H4 Conversion), Blinglight fogs (with LED halos wired up to parking light switch), and Osram night breaker bulbs in both housings. It was ~$150-170.

BLS's kits are amazing and if I ever want to go the projector route, that'd be it.

EDIT- Annnnd you have a Camaro. Sorry lol. I still say BLS has some nice kits for the Camaros, though. Good luck.

I was astonished at the difference after installing HIDs in projectors for both low and fogs. Having tried other halogens before that, it is definitely the superior option. If you do decide to go that route, you'd still benefit from that crisp cutoff of projector lenses on even the cheaper eBay housings.

I'm going to see what the angel eyes I have look like in the fog light spot. Thanks for all your input guys :)

I found something. Hella FF75. They are about 40 bucks a piece though lol. They look alright. Found some pics.

I would be putting these in the headlights. Going to do some more digging on them first before I spend dolla dollas

Edit: Summit has a kit for %109 or something. Found a kit though for $89 somewhere else. Or I could get blue lenses for $119 ;)

Decisions decisions..

there is also the 94-98 c/k chevy pick up headlight conversion, i have a couple sets from my truck and i will be doing the swap over the winter. then you have 9005 and 9006 headlight bulbs which are more common and the housings are cheap and readily available in junkyards and brand new

^ I saw that and I almost did it but chickened out. I'd rather not cut anything because as stupid as it sounds, I want the ability to go back to stock.

I've settled on Hella FF75. Leaning towards the blue lens. They come with a 55W H7 bulb. I believe the stock harness can hold up to 80W?
I also may do Hella FF75 or FF50 in the fogs. Not sure right now.

I wish I had a money tree lol.

I have a question. I'm going to try and make a backing plate so water doesn't find a way inside. What could I make something like this out of?

A backing plate to seal what to what..?

for a piece behind the lights. I think I am seeing this correctly. I may not remember it correctly though

Lights came in today. Not going to install them until I get a couple things squared away.

But they look good and should illuminate pretty well. H7 55W bulbs. Going to connect it to the stock wiring.

Overall easy install. Had to do some minor grinding because I'm anal about everything. I need to adjust the driver side one. It is shooting up a little too high. Well way too high lol. Eventually will maybe put HIDs in.

I'd recommend them ;)

First pic is with the fogs on. They are aimed up pretty high lol. Second one iswith them off. At least I think that's the order lol I don't remember

My camera really doesn't help show how great these are. Still need to adjust the driver's side. Didn't get flashed though. I wish some ladies would've flashed me

I lied, neither are with the fogs on. First one is high exposure, second one is HDR mode.

I have the hella ff75s as well. Big improvement over stock. Would be even better with hids in the housings. I can't figure out how to post pictures on my phone, but they look good.

I really like them.

An update. Went cruising last night on and around Woodward. Don't know if you've heard of it ;) But the lights were really good. I could see very well through pitch black areas. When I get another set for the high beams side, I am going to try and aim the down more since the lows light up a large area. I may put them on a switch instead of tapping into the stock wiring. That way I can run overkill wiring for 100W bulbs, which is almost too much for stock wiring. That'll be next year though [emoji14]

Need a clutch first ;)

So I've been running these for about two months now. They still are great. However, I would recommend doing the high and low beams at the same time because it looks a little weird. I plan on getting another set next spring. We had a shit load of rain this morning and they were surprisingly good.. I can't imagine what the stock lights would have been light [emoji32]
