And then...

A storm blew through and put a tree limb through my roof. Then another one ripped the power lines off my house. Now I have no electricity and it's raining inside. Worst part- this was my weekend with my daughter. Was. Now I get to do emergency roof and electrical repairs...

Oh yeah, and the shifter will have to wait.

Happy Friday!

Almost forgot the carnage pics...

Haven't seen the roof damage yet. The power company just disconnected me and gave me the all clear. Here's some water coming out of my bathroom vent.

Dam it ripped the whole risers pipe of the side of the house!

For some reason, tapatalk won't let me attach the pictures of the roof. Basically a 6" wide limb went into the roof like a spear. We got it temporarily patched with some shingles and I'm probably gonna take an unplanned vacation for the actual repairs this week. I'm buying and installing a new meter box as early as I can tomorrow morning.

Anyway, here's a picture of the MGW...

As far as the meter box goes, it's happened before. No big deal really, should be under $100 to fix it. The roof I'm guessing won't be too bad. They were wanting to do the final repair this afternoon, but the rain stopped them. It'll probably be less than my insurance deductible.

That sucks man, you'll like the MGW, I have one in my C6, nice pieces and they have great customer support. Good luck with the house.

It actually worked out to be good timing. I had just gotten home from being in Mobile all week. If this has happened at the beginning of the week, I'd have a real nasty mess on my hands.

It looks like the drywall damage is minimal, so that's a big plus. The hole in the roof was actually directly over my bathroom vent and the tree that caused the damage probably helped prevent any real water damage from happening. I seem to get lucky in the most unlucky ways, lol.

Meter box is back up. Now I have to wait for the power company to hook me back up.

Awesome. That burn mark is a scary thought tho.

That's actually 2 burn marks. So I figured while I was waiting for the power company I'd install my shifter. Wow! It's awesome! One question though- the orange piece is supposed to come off and go over the boot, right? I can't get that little screw to turn for anything. Am I supposed to cut the boot?

Excuse the race car-ness of it all, but you can see it under the boot here. That is a rubber bracelet around the shifter that is orange, not the shifter part.

I'll have to mess with it a little later. For now I just threw the console over it without the inner boot. The power company just showed up to reconnect me. I got complemented on my wiring skills (not that there's much to it), but it turns out one of the hot legs burnt off at the pole. I was hoping it would be done in a couple minutes... Oh well.

Total cost of repair so far- $67

Went for a drive with the new shifter today. This thing is awesome. Definitely happy with my purchase. The inner shift boot really needs to go back on though. Lots of noise, wind, and fumes coming up through there.

I was gonna suggest it. Pull it... flat piece of aluminum stock with a 90 degree... cover the wiring and mount guages. Good chunk of weight there...

that's what i was thinking, but with zip ties holding the cluster in. you might be onto something with the 90* piece of AL lol

Glad your house got fixed rather easily and inexpensively.

I'm a recent satisfied MGW owner too having installed mine a couple of weeks ago. MAJOR upgrade over the stock sloppy shifter. I did cut the boot, cut a rectangle but probably could have done it without cutting at all. Very happy with the shifter though any shifter is better than stock.

I think we (in central Texas) usually get the storms 6-12 hours before you guys do. Thankfully we didn't have any problems.
