I have been working for Goodyear and I was not very happy about it at all. The pay was bad and they would send me as far as 60 more miles away from home to "fill in" at a moments notice whenever they needed somebody who would show up, not rip anybody off and follow the companys rules.
I was down to just 1 vehicle the car that just refuses to die my almost 300k Z28 that was letting my wife drive back and forth to work, I have grown to not only respect this car but I have really gotten to love it over the last few years because it has been faithful and just keeps going no matter what. I finally had the last straw when i got written up for not having a ride to work but making it there anyway, I was riding with a coworker. On the advice of my wife I gave my 2 weeks notice even without having another job yet and left afterwards. I didnt even start really looking for a new job for almost 2 weeks afterwards because I was burned out and had double paid the bills so I had a cushion to work with. I started today at the Ford dealer in Fairfield ca as a service adviser after really only being unemployed for about a week and a half and its looking good to me so far. I spent most of today helping customers and filling out forms for a new hire and something that I have noticed right off is that almost everybody is walking around with a smile. I hope this works out for me an my family because just on the pay front things are looking up. I will be able to get in to doing stuff to the Camaro and then pass it on to my son and grandson as it will then become their project to work on and enjoy. I just wanted to let my LTX family know what was going on because when you have family thats just what you do. Thank you all for the well wishes and even if I end up no longer having a car with an lt1 in it I will not be going away anytime soon.

No point in not being happy. Sounds like you made some positive changes. I bet it also helps your family life as well. Not bringing all that garbage home with you. Good luck man, hope it all works out great for you.

They originally tried to hire me as a tech but when they told me the pay I started laughing and said "I was a 6 digit a year professional when I worked for Ford and GM" and took the service writer position because at the time I had been out of work for 26 months and thought the writers experence would do me good. The way they put it was that if I could sell I could make ok money and they were right about that but I got transferred to a ghetto store where few and far between had any money to spend on the buckets they drove so I was not making hardly anything because I refused to try to rip people off just to line my pockets.

Ok, was curious. They wanted me as a GMT a couple years back but at an extremely laughable wage and insane hours. Told them No thanks.

Tried to break into the writer side before, being hire at BFG at the end of 2013 with no such luck. Seems to be difficult to make that switch.

Well I had experience writing when I worked for my old job as shop foreman-asst. service manager at the forklift company prior to working there.

Ballsy to leave a job without a backup plan. I am glad it worked out for you financially and career-wise. Best of luck in the future!

Thank you, I was at such a low income level that a fast food job would have worked out to be pretty much the same as what I was getting after expenses and they hire all the time so I wasnt worried too much. I am not too proud to ask "Do you want fries with that?"

Man, I'm glad you left. I hate companies or management that don't appreciate their people. You are also way more daring than me, because I would of found another job first. Also, that's great how your wife had your back and wanted you to leave because of how unhappy you were.

The third day on the job that I actually got to be there writing up cars ect and my boss had to leave so I ended up running the whole place by myself for a few hours. I now understand why the job postings say "ADP experience is a plus" because of all the codes used in it just to get a basic service done like this for oil (xo 5w20dsp) + enter then for quantity (6 s=c+20) for the markup and (fl500s) for filter and (1 s=ll-25) for the discount. I did learn about the 99 code which if used right comes in at 100% gp (gross profit) like labor for misc stuff and I really like that.
