what stripe/design [Archive]

i'm having the front clip repainted on my 96 ss. i was wondering what you think would look the best. i had two thoughts, but i would like other ideas. keep in mind, it can only be on the hood. i was either going to do a black manta or have two stripes run down the sides of the ss hood. also, do you think any colors other than black would look nice? my car's white but it has a lot of black as well. (berger, headlights, grille, mirrors, and sail panel)

a buddy of mine had a some vinyl laying around and after a few beers we got it on the car. we did it the night before i left to go to kc for the 01 or 02 power tour. guess it was a good idea because on the tour from kc to st. louis my pic was taken and was in hot rod then the same pic was a page and a half in gmht. at the time very few cars had it and they were ls1 cars.

I kinda like just the sides. The other looks more aggressive, the sides just look cleaner. I dunno... I like them both really.
On an LTx... black. It would just go better with headlight recesses.

They are painted, go all the way over the roof, down the deck lid and around the spoiler. I personally like the pinstripe on a manta style stripe.

Red would look good. Red seems to go with black and white very well.

Like he(42083) said, it's gotta be black, and I'm kinda thinking just the edges too, I do like the manta, but you see a lot of them now, but not many with just the sides, but then I really do like the manta with pin stripe

i just noticed on your grill that you need to adjust it. mine was the same way, i added either 1/4" 1/2" spacers to the top part to kick it out and make the fins more horizontal instead of sitting back at the top.

first off, nice car, but i'm a little biased considering we have the same car. :laugh: also, i'm not really that picky. i never even really noticed it. if i get around to it, maybe, but no big deal on the grille. i just want to get it painted. i'm probably gonna do the black manta with a pinstripe.

I like the side stripes. I'm not a big fan of the manta without something on the top/back to finish it off.

It does looks really bad on that car - but I think that mite be because of the body kit and other things. Here's a picture of it on an LS1:

If I would have gone with a black/white theme I would have also left the roof, mirrors, and the front black. If you do it I think the "berger" panel painted black would look awesome and finish out the theme.

that is basically what i'm going to do/did so far. the back panel is either gona be black or white but all filled in and smoothed and the stripe pulled down onto it. its at the tail end of my on going project right now LOL

well, the car is done. they are buffing it out tomorrow and i am picking it up wednesday. i will have pictures asap. can't wait to see it.
