i changed my oil the other day, started it up notice the oil pressure at idle was like 20 and going down the road it would only raise to 30-35, i done thought something let lose like a bearing and plus i have been having injector issues but thanks to popo8 he is sending me a set so that should be cleared up soon. anyways just for giggles i decided to change the filter after doing research and i installed the bosch top end filter. now at idel i got 40 and going down the road 45-60 and up if i get on it lol. has anyone else had problems with ac delco filters?

Not problems, here. I use PF46E on the truck and just stocked up on PF48 (non-E) for the 5th gen. I ran expensive filters on stuff in the past and never saw gains. Maybe your delco wasn't seated properly?

I have to use a short filter because of the headers. But i use the STP S8873 with no problems. About 40-50 psi @ idle. I run fram on the other vehics.

Weird that it collapsed! Aren't they all metal inside?

I've been running delco filters for years without problems. Can't go wrong with Wix, either.

i cant explain why it did just thought i would let everyone know what happen to me, i have to run the short styles and that really scared me. i am just glad it was a faulty filter. everyone every know and then gets a bad one i guess, oh just finished plugs wire and man that was a chore. next change i will be doing otvc style.

I've been using AC Delco PF1218 (the long filter) for extra filtration with no issue..I'll keep an eye on it though I'm due for an oil change.

i hope so to popo8. yesterday i totally unplugged #5 injector and even though it had that miss it ran alot better. i am thinking its leaking pretty bad to load up on fuel and then lean out causing the stumble and hesitation. i didnt drive it with the injector unplugged i dont want anything else going bad.oh and that filter is doing good. the ac delco done okay until i really romped on it one day and i guess the pressure just collasped it im not sure, just glad no bearings or pick up coming off.

The newer AC Delco's are almost all Ecore filters, which is a nylon cage in the middle instead of metal and fiber end disks. I've heard stories of the media blowing out in them and the cage breaking, but I'm not really sure how true those stories are. I just feel more comfortable using something with a metal core. You can still order the old style filters, but you have to order the ones with the CL (stands for classic) notation after the number, like pf454cl or pf1218cl. You can order the classic filters through oriellys, and oddly enough the bigger truck filter pf1218cl is cheaper than the pf454cl. lol
