I have weld pro stars on the rear of my 93 z28 and I need front runners now! My question is will the GTO Spares work on with no problems? Also does anyone have pics of them on 4th gen F bodies? Thanks in advance...

Yes they will fit. Yes others do it. No it is not a god idea running them.

I've looked into this quite a bit, apparently they "fit" but they aren't perfect. I've heard of guys running them as is, changing the tires, and I've seen guys get flamed by the internet safety police haha! That being said, I bought summit stars for like $89 ea and nankang tires for $145 installed....

I figured when your doin 100 plus mph, isn't exactly an opportune time to see who is correct in this debate. Just my .02

I believe we have a few threads of the same topic from the past.

In the C5 vette and G8 world they are very common. There are guys running 135-140mph on the temp spare tires. I personally would not run the temp tires but I would use the wheels with proper front runner tires. In fact, I will be when the track opens in the spring.

I've seen some guys run them, but good god those suckers are heavy! And like stated above, you can get some fronts from summit cheap!

There was a thing about the bolt pattern being close but not 100% iirc... that is what had the "internet safety police" concerned.

I personally know someone how uses them and continues to against advisement only because ".65mm isn't that much of a difference." And his brakes clear NOTHING else except VERY expensive wheels. ANyway.......

Our F-Body has a 5 x 4 3/4 bolt pattern, or 5x120.65mm. The GTO uses the more universal 5x120mm bolt pattern. So yes, there's .65mm difference in the bolt pattern. What this translates to is the first lugnut you tighten down will center the wheel on that lug nut. The rest of the lug nuts will progressively be off the farther away from the centered one you are. This is important because A, you're not getting a true seat on the lug to wheel. But B, it puts a lateral load on the wheel studs which they are NOT meant to take. Guys have quickly snapped studs from this little difference. Other guys have been fine. It's a risk you take, and one I wouldn't want to take running down the track.

You know, as I read this ^ what comes to mind is the problem my dad had with snapping studs off his spooled s60. The ONLY time it ever did it was when he was running a cheap set of zr1 knockoffs. I'm wondering now if those in conjunction with a screw in stud (which I would think is less prone to deflection as a pressed in stud that may slightly conform to that slight misalignment) were his issue. I agree that you are going to have a lateral load on a setup like that and loose a lot of clamping force with a conical seat style lug that is misaligned. Makes me want to go blue up the seat on those rims and see where the lug was actually touching the rim....

meh, it's not like you're going 100+ for an hour, it's 0-100+ and back in 15-20 seconds. GTP guys (5x115) run mustang wheels (5x114.3) all the time. what's the worst that could happen.

Is corvette spacing the same as fbody? I know vette guys have been using gto spares for quite a while.

Lol as of now I'm running the ones that came on them from the factory. I'm looking at getting some Yokohama S drive tires though. They're pretty cheap and will get the job done.

I'm thinking about dark stars but I don't like darkstar center caps or the jms wheels because they are smooth but I've never seen them in person
