I have a 1995 LT1/ 4L60E from an Impala SS swapped into my 62 Pontiac. I would like to make it emssion legal and want to add a charcoal canister from a "B" body. I have a '96 Impala SS, but I've never seen the cansister. Where abouts are the cannisters located on "B" bodies?

Thanks for info. I can see the lines running in there. It's kind of boxed in, so not obvoius.

In Ontario, pre 87 vehicles don't need an e-test, but are supposed to have all of the emission equipment wether it works or not. For an engine swap to a later engine you are exempt if you can prove it was done before Jan. 1, 1999. I started working on the car around 1995 when my tall son wouldn't fit in the back of my tudor hot rods to go to cruise nights. I bought an Impala SS in 1998. I finished the '62 Pontiac and got it appraised in April 1999, so although the swap was in 1998 I can't prove it. Minimum requirements are 1980...cats, egr, charcoal caniaster, sealed gas cap, etc. If you get stopped it's $300 per missing item. A couple of friends have been stopped.

The Canadian Pontiac was originally a 283 and I could pass off a carbed 350 as a 283 but not with an LT1. I put cats on it last year. Might as well follow through.

I would like to sell the '62 this year. I'm just putting disk brakes on the front it right now. Too many projects. I hope to get some more track time with my LT1 56 Ford this year. My son gave me a B&M convertor for Christmas, so it should be fun testing. I have an appraisal for the 56 from 1994 with a carbed 350. I doubt they are sharp enough to noticed that the carbed LT1 now looks different.
