when i start my car cold, the idle starts out at around 500rpm and as it warms up it will settle at around 1000rpm. this seems like the opposite of what should happen, my truck when started cold will idle at ~1200rpm and will settle at around 700-800rpm. i have the idle screw set all the way down (TB all the way closed) and it will not drop below 1000rpm, it has a BBK 58mm TB and PCMforless tune along with the mods in my sig. does anybody know what could be causing this? if you need anymore info let me know. i also just got a OBD1 aldl cable and will be getting tunercats in the spring so i can start data logging and tuning the car myself. TIA

What will it do with the factory TB on it and with the MAF unplugged. With a 383 and a mail order tune I would be looking there if everything is on the up

Vacuum leak around throttle blade shaft bushings. BBK are known for it.
Get data master for data logging as well, tunercat rt is hit or miss if it connects half the time. Without logging stuff you honestly have no clue as to what the car is doing. You should invest in it now besides spraying carb cleaner on everything checking for vacuum leaks. With logging stuff, you will be able to see if your iac or tps is messed up

i will try unplugging the MAF this weekend. i was thinking about getting the tuner sooner since we seem to not be getting any snow here in the NE and i was able to drive the car last weekend and most likely this weekend too.
is data master part of tunercats or is it a separate program? sorry, still learning about tuners. i will also try to look for leaks in the TB this weekend
thanks guys

Datamaster is a separate better program. Tunerpro rt is a tuning program that has a chincy at best connection. Datamaster is $100 but much better. Cats tuner (tunercats.com) is what I use to tune, along with datamaster to datalog., Tunerpro once in a while for logging only.

ok, so i will probably do the same thing, datamaster to datalog and tunercats to tune. going to do some more research between tunerpro and tunercats, but i can at least get datamaster for this weekend to do some logging and see what is going on. why use tunerpro to log if you have dtatmaster for that? i am pretty sure the car is running pretty rich as well, so it will be good to see if i am right.
is there any fix for the leak around the throttle shaft bushing? or should i look into a new TB if that is the case?

There is a fix somewhere, Google it, some have changed the bushings. Also, the BBK tbs like to throw the arm off that the cable goes on. I'd throw a stock tb on it.
People use Tunerpro to log because it's free. Personally, I can't stand it. FYI you can download datamaster and get 20 free logs with it, then you have to buy a license. Cats tuner can be unlocked to be free. But for $20 plus $20 for a definition file it's well worth it. Cats is very easy to use, and so is datamaster.
