Well, after waiting all summer for an opportunity to see what this little nearly stock 94Z would do at the track here are my results in order of run:

14.040@98.54
13.836@98.93
13.877@99.03
13.799@99.37
13.865@98.45
16.240@91.13*
13.862@98.77
13.882@99.08
13.831@98.93
13.812@99.15
13.826@99.37

My 60' ranged from 1.94 to 1.99 on the majority of runs. The * is for a run that I somehow started out in 3rd gear - this particular run I did a great burnout, so much so that I must've gotten into 3rd or 4th gear, and then it didn't come out of the higher gear on the start - I thought I ruined the transmission, so I let it cool down for a few rounds, crossed my fingers and went out and all seemed to be OK.........whew! :sweatdrop:

I didn't make any changes and all I have is a stock 93LT1 with the Hypertech Power Program controlling things.

Is this pretty typical?

Thanks for looking!

Greg

Congrats on the times. Don't know much about the hyper tech stuff ...

She pretty much stock?

Yeah, stock LT1 with 4L60E (2400 stall)/3.23 gears. Original motor seized and I got this one off of Craig's List. Just swapped over most everything from the '94 LT1 to this '93 LT1. Struggled for awhile gettin' 'er started up (turned out to be a faulty OPTI......twice!). Anyway, also have a stainless exhaust, nothing special. The Hypertech tune is just a 160 deg thermostat and the basic program that regulates the fans to keep the coolant temp between 165 and 172, and sets the shift points at factory settings for now. All these settings and more can be further adjusted and optimized. I hope to get to the track one more time before they close down for the season so I can play with some of these settings.

Thanks!
Greg

Looks like you shaved some time off there with just the driver mod. I think those are respectable numbers for a stock LT1. My Nova swap had me running high 14's. 1.6 rockers, EWP and some tuning had me in the low 13's, and she had some 12.7-12.9's in her with just more wideband tuning and cool weather.

What were your RT's lookin like?

Hehe........driver mod..............I like that. :D I want to play with the 2-3 shift because I was loosing traction enough to get squirrely on most runs.

They were all over the place but here they are:

.053 .289 .369 -.013 .089 .331 .158 .263 .334 .231 .354

That's very good for a stockish LT1.

With mine stock and the "4k" stall, I was letting off the brake and pegging the throttle on the 3rd yellow (or all yellows) depending on what tree you're running. See how close that gets you. If you still have a high RT, move to the 2nd yellow lighting, until you red light. Then you can find a spot where your car is getting itself moving and ready to break the beams on time.

No, I wasn't running a pro-tree..........different ball game. :) I was trying to time my "standing on it" on the third yellow but I think I need to take more time staging so I am just on the edge of tripping the second staging light everytime, then concentrating on leaving the same time everytime, as you suggested. Of course, that's easier said than done.

It truly was a blast though. I was just thankful to make it back home without any breakage.

Thanks!

Don't feel bad for leaving from idle either. I started out not leaving under any RPM and it was great for my consistency. I treated that last yellow as the green light :D

Good times man. I leave from idle, street tires with no traction lol

I always torque brake right up until it feels like the tires will start spinning... hold it there...and dump on the third yellow.

Thanks! Well, I had my feet on the gas and the brake at the same time when the lights started coming down. Just enough pressure to hold from moving but no high revs. It would launch hard, no spin, until the 2nd gear shift and it would spin/chirp but was all good after that. I think the track prep was helping a lot. There were a bunch of 1/8th mile Super Stockers with turbos. They HAD to have traction the way they were launching. It was a cold day too. I must have looked like such a slow poke.............they were going 5.4s at 130 in the 1/8th..........crazy fast.

I think I'll start messing with the Hypertech custom power tuning next (step up the cooling fan temps and shift points). I just gotta break 100 mph. :)

I'm going to try that. I just hope the track is as good as it was that day. I had no spin on any run from the start..................just 2nd gear, got a little squirrely on my very first run and I let out of it.............that was the 14.040 run.

Seems like a strong running stock car. Have you done any weight reduction? Still stock manifolds? The biggest gains you will see in ETs will be a higher stall and sticky tires. Good luck on your LT1 adventure and have fun.

No weight reduction (yet). Still stock manifolds. Afraid to try stickies until I beef up the rear (and buy a few spare U-joints). ;)

I went back to Mason-Dixon this past Saturday (Nov 15th) - perfect weather (mid-40s, no wind, all sun) - took my son along and we stocked up on snacks and drinks, got there and my son says "looks pretty empty - you sure they're open?" I said, "of course they are - look at this weather - they must all be parked on the back side of the track". Sat there for a short time, noticed there was no one collecting money and two other cars were there - the one guy said, "I just called and they said the track was closed due to weather"! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! :angryfire:

Man, I wanted to get just one more shot at breaking 100mph before the end of the season!

Oh well, I guess I'll do some planning over the winter now.
