well i have done the first step in dropping some weight off my T/A to offset the 6point rollbar thats going to have to be installed. got her on the trailer and to the shop. gonna start tomorrow morning 7am sharp! didn't really want to loose the heat and a/c at first but after 6 months of back and forth, should i or shouldn't i? i decided the hell with it! gonna do it, and then some! lol!
here she is on the trailer, sans engine.. should have the new ticker back mid febuary. i'll snap some pics of the progress as i go along and post them up.

spent 10 hours today shedding some weight off my T/A. started at the rear and worked forward. removed all the rear bumper support stuff. and while the lights were out i replaced the the piece between the lights with a shiny new one. http://www.ltxshootout.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif removed the 6 speakers in the rear panels, the radio and hvac controls and both airbags. (these things will not be returning.) trimed all the extra overhanging carpet ( going to remove the carpet and pull all of the jute off. just ran out of time today. ) removed the rear seat delets.
pulled the seats and center console ( going back in at a later date. ) then went after the dash. got it and the brace out. then i had to go under the hood for abit.
pulled the ac compressor/dryer and hoses, heater hoses and p/s steering stuff. (these things will not be returning.) then back inside to tackle the heater box.
took the seal off the box and used it to make a block off plate out of some diamond tread alum. turned out sweet!
figure i removed about a hundred pounds today. didn't weigh anything. but did take a bunch of pics. gonna put another 10 hours in her next sunday and shed a few more pounds. hopefully this will offset the weight of the 6 point rollbar.

Did he do anything to it, to make it not sag?
We didn't even have our support out for a few weeks and the bumper cover was already starting to sag and people that stood at the end of the track said it was sagging really bad and caving inward... we eventually had to use some copper tubing to create our own little redneck bumper

they use plastic push pins like the ones holding the fascia on. it's easier to unbolt the foam and support first. then push the plastic pins out from the back side to get the foam off. or just do like i did and leave it together and chuck it in the scrape pile, lol!
the backlay piece is just a piece of abs plastic from a local plastics store. use yellowpages. com and do a search in your area for plastics. the piece we got was like 5 bucks for a 5 foot square i think?

looks like another 50 lbs of stuff was removed this time..
total of 182lbs
Good thing i don't work at NASA When we started having problems with ours it got a tiny cut on it trying to load it on the trailer one day. After that cut/tear got bigger then started nose started caving in at high speeds.

put a few more hours in her today...
pulled out all the stereo/speaker, and airbag wiring. rewired the autometer gauges with weatherpac connectors. reinstalled the dash, cluster, and glove box.
all in all about 6 hours of work. pulling all those wires out really was time consuming as hell!

put two more days of work in her this weekend.
saturday i did a crap load of wiring. got my switch panel all wired up and installed. mounted and wired my autometer tach/shift light. as well as my hurst quarter stick installed. around 7 hours worth of work.
sunday was all about removing the carpet to tear the jute off it. what a pia! then while i had all the plastic panels out, i decide to clean and armor all them, much easier out of the car, lol! put her all back togetherand youd never know i removed all that weight! around 5 hours worth of work.

So what do I have to do, to get you over here to do my car??? Im Sooo sooo jealous!!!!
All that wiring scares the hell out of me!!!! Ive decided to ditch the AC but I need to keep the heat! Sounds can go, rear seats can go, rear bumper support can go, Ill delete the front but only after I get a new support so it doesnt sag (SSSC's post scared me and I changed my mind about just pulling it and leaving it) Floor mats, hatch flap thing, jute, can go.
Did you replace the foam support stuff behind the rear interior panels? How hard was the Passenger airbag?

buy me a plane ticket and book the hookers, lol!! j/k..
the wiring is nothing really, just time consuming as hell. nope left the foam stuff out. pass airbag was a breeze. once the dash is out you just flip it over and unbolt the whole unit from underneath.

well 4 months later and i'm finally starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel with my t/a! just paid off my LE2'S from Lloyd. must give a great big THANK YOU! to Lloyd for being so patient and understanding. have me a 58mm t/b coming as well as my LE cam in the mail to me.
once i get the cam this week i'll run it to my engine builder ( george coleman of CAMS in gloucester, va. )and h'll stick it in the awaiting short block, do a quick degree check and i'll bring it home to bolt my LE2'S and such on, so i can stuff her back between the fenders! and get her to my tuner, ED from VaSpeed.
some of ED's recent LT1 work...
