Of parts vendors. When places like Thunder Racing, TByrne Motorsports, FastToys, and others were in business, not screwing people, and they were all a one stop shop for our cars? Now we're stuck pretty much with Summit, Jegs, Amazon, and web searches for obscure part numbers that folks may or may not have.

And hence, delete or replace as much "LT1 specific" crap as you can.
Once you enter the world of aftermarket SBC/LSX, tis wonderful.

Yeah, it's bad when the family hauler Taurus SHO can lay down a mid 12. Now we're going to have a low 11 family hauler with the Hellcat Charger. lol

Tom and Thunder both screwed people over when they closed doors. There's parts of those days I miss, I think every one would. A lot of it is the people and the cars, but some of my best friends are from those days. Big reason why a lot of us still have our 4th gens, lot of memories tied in those days. There's no doubt in my mind if I was at this point in life back then I'd have bought a LS1 Trans Am WS6.

i miss them alot.in my day 13 seconds was FAST
i was 16 in 1985 "real muscle cars" could be had for 3500 all day long they were not even 20 years old yet.
my high school parking lot looked like a car show mostly late 60's early 70's muscle!
my little click was getting high in the parking lot and when we left the parking lot we drove em like we stole em my friends car's
blue 66 impala ss
white 67 impala vert
black 69 chevelle vert
blue 70 dodge dart scat pack 340.....dude sold it and got a 2014 stingray now
white 70 buick gsx
70 442 vert
70 z28
69 nova BUILT TO THE HILT
69 gto
a bandit t/a or 2
i had a 68 impala fast back then a 73 442
ford's were not popular and imports were for losers.
if someone had a chip we thought it was paint damage LOL a intake was aluminum and your carburetor bolted to it LOL
that was just my group my class had over 300 in it and the smoke from the burnt rubber and weed filled the air daily
there were a few "rich kids" with mustangs, turbo regals, monte carlo ss's and a few 3rd gens.
GOOD TIMES THE BEST
a few of the guy's still have their high school whips the 70 z28 is still in my friends garage sitting next to his 2013 shelby GT500 funny thing that ford will go but that z28 ain't going anywhere.the buick GSX ya not going anywhere he may be buried in it all the rest got wrecked :cry:or sold when we started family's
we went to the local speed shop and there were many.you walked in and the guy behind the counter knew your name you car and what you had done to it.
my formula and most 4th gens would rip almost any of those car's from my high school days a new asshole but i would give it up in a minute for 1 more hour or 2 in that school parking lot blazing a joint smoke pouring out my wheel wells...back to today getting parts on the internet is a blessing and a curse,my mortgage is not going to pay itself and shit my back hurts could be uncle sam fucking me or the hemorrhoid i got from driving this dam truck to pay for life and being that adult i couldn't wait to be.
man now i just want to do go home do my homework and ask my mom for 20 bux so i can cruse and get high and laid.....in that order

I used to order from quite a few of companies back when I had my first LS car...I was shocked they were almost all gone when I got my LT.
Honestly, I think everything has changed. I went out cruising tonight for a little bit and there was nothing out. Nice night and the last weekend of summer and I was the only muscle car on the road. I used to be able to sit in any parking lot for 2 mins and find something to toy with, not that I would...

At first they had a great reputation and built quality diff's. Then for some reason after one of their group purchase offers they took a bunch of orders and then stopped responding. I don't remember if there was ever a reason given. Just know they screwed quite a few buyers. Internet Racers Supply was another one that had a disgraceful ending. I used to go through them to buy things quite a lot. They seemed like good people.

Combination Motor Sports was legit, Shawn Salazar was one of their customers. They got bought out by Navarez or some one like that. Performance Industry in general just seems really tough for long term sustainability. So many have been bought out and sold so many times, if the people that do major manufacturing. IRS was local, Dennis basically wanted to become a supplier for other shops and not deal with the customer stuff. In the end he screwed people over, that's about when Thunder Racing got big. IRS was local to me, off Park ten Row. They used to do Installs and had a shop in Katy, Rick Intrau actually worked for them, then they moved to just parts sales
Remember the KTRE fiasco?
That's a name I haven't heard in a while. Bunch of the old MTI cars had KTRE rear ends them.

Saladbar was one of my best friends. He had his car at my house or mine at his doing stuff. Miss that bastard terribly.

Craig also shared space with IRS. Not sure how long that lasted, but I dropped by there a few times to shoot the shit with Craig, who is a super cool dude.

Do you know Mike Hefner? He had a T/A I believe with a KTRE from one of the first GP's they offered. Shawn bought it from Mike and, as you well know, Shawn had a thousand different combos on that car and that diff took every one of them without fail. Damn good piece.
Besides all that, I miss living in DFW. It was a damn good time to be there in the 1990's since it and Houston were known to have some of the fastest f-bodys in the nation and the strongest car clubs. The Texas forum on ls1.com was always jumping and had more traffic than all other forums combined on that page. Ennis, Denton, HRP, Hallsville, Ardmore and Kennedale were always in the plans in some form on Wed or Friday nights. Cops knew all the street racing spots and didn't care, until a drunk driver killed at least one person and hit several others when plowing into a crowd of spectators on WNWHWY in Dallas. Soon after street racing became a felony in many states.

If you search back far enough you still see discussion with those names in it. Hands down one of the people I miss seeing post is MindGame hewas very knowledgeable and at the time had one of the most unique builds on the board. If I rememer it was like a 383 with 15* heads making well north of 500 to the tires. There was this other guy, I cant remeber what his screen name was. But he had a LT1 with SB2.2 heads(nascar heads) on his bullet. His motor made over 600+ before the bottle. Some people are still there and others are actually popping back up after 15 years.
