So, I guess this is where I start. Well, i've had the car since 1998. When I bought it, it had that god-awful 4.4l V-8. 267 cubic inches of shit, it was. Three speed metric bullshit transmission, and it only started every other day. I only paid $125 for it. It also featured; 3 different style hubcaps, body side moldings, and a beautiful anarchy symbol carved into the rear armrest. I worked in a machine shop after high school, so I got a 4 bolt main 350 and 700-R4 and had it rebuilt. Almost had it going, then I had to start Ranken. Fast forward to 2013 and a trip to Gateway Motorsports Park. Since they didn't feel it necessary to teach us carbs at school, I was pretty much in the dark. So after a few poor passes I bought the LT1 from a guy cleaning out his shop. The build should start August 30th so I can make it to the shootout. My great friends/classmates at Certified Performance will be there leading the thing and telling me what to do. I'll try to keep this post updated as much as possible. Only have the last few small parts to acquire and tasks to perform before the swap, so until then...2987629887298862988529884298832988229881298 80298792987829877

Nice car, I always loved the 2 door Malibu.
I was actually shopping for one to swap my turbo LT1 in but ended up buying the RX7 instead. :)

Big Thanks to everybody! It still needs LOTS of bodywork. And when I put the diff in, I took the diff out to put new clutches in. I still have those twisted steels and friction discs. The axle that was in the R/R was slightly twisted again. I put it in the L/R in hopes of twisting it back straight. LOL. Dropped my sender and fitting off today to have them silver soldered. I figure anything I can get done before next weekend will just put it that much more ahead.

Got my Stealth 340 today. Installed it on the sender and dropped it in the tank. One less thing to do Saturday!:claps:I'm also gonna throw up a pic of my headers. Just some filler material until this weekend. I probably won't have an update until Sunday or Monday, so my apologies in advance.

Sorry, haven't checked in a while. I'll work on the pic re-sizing. Schoenfeld is the header brand I chose.

Can't beat em for $180. Just wish like hell they could have found a way to route the #6 primary that doesn't involve me destroying my ac box. It was a sad day for a fat man in southern illinois that day....

http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/03/11/e1311e2b0362b9d8f826285c61c2ada5.jpgWell, project body mounts will be VERY slow. Just finished the driver's side, sort of. Two bolts came out, 2 were missing, 1 broke off, and 1 bastard spun in the body. The sound of rust crunching is NOT a good sign.[emoji51] That's enough for today. Good night.

Got all the bolts out of the passenger side. Just that 1 on the driver's side left. I did manage to lift the passenger side enough to slip a new upper bushing in. Some spots are going to require washers due to frame rot. Oh well. Until I can afford an upgraded/replacement frame, I'll make it work. Gotta get that 60' consistent/lower!
joshuam2790
03-13-2015, 11:22 PM
Well, got the passenger side mounts set in place. Only 3 washers needed for the frame. Still looking for a sponsor to buy me that $10K frame. Or a tube chassis. Still have PLENTY of room for stickers. OR, I could remove some if someone wants to step up.😉

Well, I made 2 plates to sit on top of the frame for the bushings to sit in. Now I'll have to make more access holes for the rest of them fuckers. Time to stop for now because I'm getting PISSED OFF!

Well in the process of replacing those three body mounts, instead of doing it the easy way, I decided to play bodyman. Now I'm contemplating replacing the trunk floor with one that does not have the spare tire well. 79LT1Monte

Yeah, and the edge I separated on the right hand side. I think I'm just gonna take the easy way out and use a hole saw. Keep the piece to weld back in later. Replacement panels like this one are IMPOSSIBLE to find aftermarket.
