LT1 Edit style, PCMFORLESS, MADZ28 ect? I'm a little confused on who to go through.

I like the idea of using LT1 Edit or TunerCatPro and doing it myself but I've heard many good things about pcmforless, just need some opinions.

I'm getting ready to send my PCM back to PCMforless for the third time. Every time the tune is right on, I keep changing things and needing it recalibrated! I have absolutley no complaints, fast turn around, good $, and I couldn't imagine it being any more right on without having the entire car. I haven't heard anything bad about MadZ28 either, I've just never used them. A+ for PCMforless from me!:claps:

ion/madz28 did my original tune and the obdI conversion. he nailed the tune and the car flew.

since the switch and cam i do it all with tunercats and a portable wideband.

Any one of the above mentioned tuners will get your car set up right. I'm partial to PCMForLess, but they're all quality tuners.

If it's up your alley, learning is best done with a simple setup (no FI, no nitrous, no huge cam, ect), a laptop, your own choice of a tuning program, a LOT of research, and some guts.

I use a standalone DFI on the 94 and tune it myself. I was going to get Tunercat for the 95 but decided to just go the PCMforless route and I could not be more pleased with the service and quality of the tune. It was exactly what I asked for! Bryan is top notch in my book.:hail:

Have tunercat and datamaster... haven't used either yet. Need to get a working laptop first. I'm about ready to use an extension cord and my desktop though.

I have tunercats/datamaster. Im not the best by no means, so Ed Wright does my tuning. If your looking at a mail order tune, the thread in the tuning section about trifecta may give you some good info. You dont have to send them your pcm.

I plan on having Ion tune mine most likely.

Tunercats/Datamaster here now too. With the help of Moe Bailey its going pretty good.

I would stray away from mailorder tunes if your car is one bit radical because you will waste your time with 'tuners' that are on the ohter side of the country.

So far, just a MADZ28 tune with a little adjustments from tunercats/datamasters.

My stock ECU must have taken a shit on me. The car would backfire through the intake, and pop when I rev'd it a couple times. Hasnt happened since the swap though.

Datamaster and tunercats. I do a lot of tuning for people local and long distance. I like to get people to do data logs for me and then I can really fine tune it. Makes things really easy if they have a wideband.

Its all really what you want to do. If you like to tinker with the car all the time then you might want a tuner you could do yourself from a laptop, but if you want the tune right on and looking for a mailorder tune, i would go for pcmforless. I did and although I havent started the car yet, the customer service and turn around time blew me away, bryan herter lt1 tuner, answered my emails right away and I got the pcm back so fast! Plus if you add other stuff to your car, its a 50 dollar retune charge.

Did you make or purchase that laptop stand? If you purchased it, please let me know where.

I'd like to hear the answer as well. It sure is a pain to drive and tune with it on the pasenger seat sliding all over the place..:shame:

I have a nice huge open spot in my dash... I really wanna just install a screen there, throw the laptop in the pocket behind the seat, and use a wireless keyboard.

I made the stand out of 1/2 inch angle iron. I need to make a new one again since I put kirkey racing seats in there now and the way I made that one it dont clear the seat.

I've tried a few of the popular tuners; which worked ok with bolt-on setups.
Then I got burned on a mailorder tune for my H/C/I install.... now I only trust my stuff to Ed Wright @ Fastchip.
10 years, 3 cars and I lost track of how many setups LOL

I had a street tune we did with a friend's laptop on my old LE2.1HL tune so I could drive the car around
after the incident with the mail order tune and the tuner who refused to make the necessary corrections.
Spent many hours fine tuning it and thought we had it as good as it was gonna get.
Then I took it to Ed and he found 30hp LOL

I wish Ed was within a reasonable distance from me, or I would go to him no doubt. I have been contemplating getting a mail order tune from him, but they seem kinda pricey.

What is the stand mounted to?
I'll take it off your hands when you make a new one haha

Im just going to cut that one apart and reuse the top part, I had it mounted to the front seat bolts, I welded big fender washers to the bottom of the legs so I can bolt it down.

I have got a friend with a 2000 SS that ordered a H/C package, Fast 90/90 and a mail-order tune from Texas Speed. Ed picked up 43 more than the baseline dyno with the basic TSP tune. He's absolutely brilliant, not to mention the quality of his tunes are top of the line.
