We will be putting a roll cage in my dad's camaro before the shootout this year. We don't anticipate on it ever going any faster than 10's so from what I understand a 6 point is NHRA legal (is that correct). We have subframe connectors in the car and I'm also seeing some options to tie into those, making the cage an 8 point. Material will be chromoly and the car is a 95 t top.
He wants everything, 5 point harness, fire extinguisher, padding..... whatever it takes to get NHRA legal. Me..... well I'm gonna try my luck at tech being lenient this year or just do like last year and not go fast lol

Technically you only need a five point for 10's. I went with the mild steel bolt in from Wolfe. It's a six point and fits well.

Did not know that about the 5 point. I was looking at Wolfe's stuff last night and it looks top notch.

I wouldn't mind having something like that in my car, with the additional room that I have I could probably get one in there, be legal, & a whole lot safer without those bars getting all up in my business

Chris, I can email you the pages of the rule book regarding roll bars if you want. He shouldn't need any padding as long as his helmet can't come into contact with the main hoop. Not sure about tying into the sub-frames, mine goes to plates on the DS tunnel. If he runs an aftermarket seat it has to be attached to the cross bar (inside main hoop) and 5pt harness is required. Wolfe, and S&W make nice stuff, Wolfe's would probably need less finishing work but at a $.

Past 135mph is a full ten point cage, not sure what you are gonna be trapping.

Make sure you have the latest update from NHRA. They revised the 2014 General Regulations requirements in February. The rule book was reprinted in June of this year.

I have a custom 6-point chrome moly roll bar, swingouts, plus an X-brace on the rear braces. He claimed he was able to integrate the floor connections with beefed up portions of the chassis both front and rear. Also installed custom chrome moly SFC's at the same time.... supposedly they all connect together. My seat is not braced, but so far no one has called me on it.

Wolfe here. Only 6 point. I need more but it will do for now. I have put three in and they all fit perfect. Worth the cash.

Lots of wolves out there it sounds like. The quality and fit definitely looks good from what I can tell. I think we'll go with the 6 and possibly tie into the subframe connectors (i guess that would then make it an 8 point?) Obviously the NHRA guidelines will spell out exactly what's legal but the way I see it is, yes you could be dq'd if you trap over 135 but I highly doubt we'll get that high, nor will they actually kick us out if we did. It's better than no cage at all.

Looks like your set on the cage. ... I do not know what wolfes sub frame connectors are Like... I think there threw floor style. .. but make sure ya get a sfc that connects sf to sf... not sf to outer LCA mount which is useless! Like 95 percent of them on the market

That figures, revise the rules and then reprint a new rulebook halfway through the season! Chris sorry I forgot about this thread, let me make sure I have the current version.
