What makes you think the chain is broke?

I haven't heard of anyone snapping an extreme duty timing set it's pretty stout . I have one myself .

I am also wondering what makes you think you broke it ?

I wish there was a timing gear set like you can get for a gen 1 block

I have the GMPP ZZ4/Vortec set which is pretty much identical to the LT4 ED except for the cam sprocket (I have no water pump provision b/c EWP). Full roller and pretty damn stout looking if you ask me.

I can't see it breaking unless something put a ton of strain on the cam sprocket... crazy valve spring pressures, seized water pump, etc but even that seems like a long shot.

I've got the Extreme Duty timing set, running with stock water pump, and the high spring pressures typical of a solid roller camshaft. Engine redlines at 7,400 RPM, and the timing set has been there for 14 years. Only thing done to it was to machine out slots in the cam sprocket to reduce the mass (high mass was specific to the LT4 components).

well maybe its something else. ill know when i pull it apart. got pretty lazy this weekend. 6300 shift into third and it went into nothingness. no sounds nothing. barely idled til i pulled off the road. soon as i stopped it died. it turns over fast than normal like no compression. Ill know more when i get it apart i guess. maybe im leaning on chain cause when i bought it people said i shouldnt have. i also agreed it looked very stout.

I'd pull a valve cover

So pulled cover. Everything is moving fine. Turns over like 0 compression. Guess now I'll get 1 tdc and see what the valves look like
