I had to put my car outside this past fall and finally got around to washing it the other day and now I have water spots from when it was sitting outside...I would prefer not to buff the car again, but will if needed! Has anyone used something with good success that removes water spots on a dark colored (black) car?

Try a diluted water/vinegar mixture. Vinegar supposedly works wonders on water spots. If that doesn't cut it, buffing might be your only option.

I will give this a try. I need new pads before I can buff it anyways.

Yeah, I tried that last night and nothing...I guess when your car is sitting outside in the morning rain and then the clouds break and the sun comes out your in trouble...:(

Yep, wet black paint + sun = PITA to remove water spots. Sometimes the particles of dirt in the rainwater, or dirt picked up from the paint can be embeded into the substrate due to the magnafication glass effect the sun has on the water droplets. I know on my dark blue GMC truck typically my only option is a light polishing compound. I prefer Meguiar's #9 Swirl Remover. If that is not aggressive enough I move to Meguiar's #2 Fine Cut Cleaner. Of course then you have to wax over the area. This is exactly why I like white cars.

if you have water spots you also have calcium build up in other areas so i would claybar the entire car!

I love white cars too...when shopping for my car I was looking for a white '96 SS for over 6 months and then gave up and bought my black one (second choice)
I used #2 last time and it works great...these spots get stubborn at times. I will try some #9 first this time though.

Spray wax or "detailer" usually gets them off. Hand wax it a couple times :D

I usually use the "ICE" detailer spray on mine, and it does a great job especially after its been previously cleaned not too long before it was applied.
It does a great job, and my guess would be that it would most likely remove the water spots. I've never really payed attention to that because usually if theres water spots on my Formula it makes me mad enough to the point where I make myself wash it not too long after.
