Well knowing that I needed a tune horribly bad for the bird, and I was between pcm4less and trifecta. The car is going to stay like it is now for quite some time, and the next time it will need a tune it will be going to be dyno tuned, so the $50 retune wasn't really something that I needed, and both were the same price. So two sundays ago I was sitting around and thought I would email trifecta, Vince sent an email back to me 2MINUTES LATER, on a sunday afternoon, sent two more to him and he responded five minutes later on both. That pretty much sold me there, knowing that I wouldn't have any kind of problem with customer support at all. He told me that tunes for LT1's and cobalt 2.2L were their most poplular, and he has a 94 LT4 (converted) impala ss that he's played around with for years. I also figured I'll be a guinea pig for you guys, I figured worst case, I might miss out on a few ponys, no big deal to me. So I odered a tune and 6 days later, this was during new year's week, this is what showed up.

the case that this thing is in is really tough looking, it was even locked with a little number lock on the out side, extremely easy to install, just plug it in and tap the screen basically. I felt a good difference in drivability at low r's, and the car really pulls now in third and forth, first and second go by too quick now to feel a difference, throttle reponse has improved and it feels like I use less pedal to maintain and accelerate during normal driving. Going to the track tomorrow night to see what kinda difference it made. I'm glad I went with them, good experience, I'd recommend them to anyone looking for a mail order tune.

Thats pretty Kick ass Looking! Do you get to keep all that stuff? Last time I did a mail order tune I had to send my cars computer out to Ed Wright

That is pretty cool you dont have too send the pcm off. Even if you have to send all that stuff back its still worth it. Doesnt seem it would do anything once youve uploaded the tune anyway. Somebody should hit Vince up about being a site sponsor.

yeah, it's all gottoa go back, they send a return shipping label, you just pack everything up and slap that label on there, and drop it off at a UPS store, which I need to do today. Their price is the same as PCMforless's, and if you think about it shipping come out to be cheaper too, since it's just a strait 35 for it to come to you and back to them.

Trifecta supports my site LS1LT1.com , we have never heard an ill word and plenty of people use and reccomend him from my home site. Trifecta truly is a great way to mail order a tune without being forced not to have your car running for a couple days !!

whatever anyone else can do with a mail order, they can do. Vince told me that they did 83 LT1's last year ranging anywhere from what most of us have(bolt on's) to stuff that stroked and cammed with supporting mods. I would say if you have any questions just email Vince.

well, got back from the track a little bit ago, and the weather was ok, it was cool, but still pretty humid. I made a new personal best, from 13.74@102.3 to a 13.64@104.5, spun a little more than it needed to off the line, but did good still.

is this tune equal to the pcmforless or ion's mail order tune where you send in your ecm,,or is this do it yourself method in anyway less of a tune?looks cool as hell..love the idea of no down time.my car isnt a dd so if its less of a tune i might consider bryan or ion..if its the same i would def give it a shot.

it's the same thing as Ion's or Brian's, just you don't send in your pcm, they write your program, put on that pda, and send it to you. All you do is turn the key on, turn the pda on, plug the cable into the obd port and the pda, tap the screen, and it does it's thing. That 13.74 run was a few months back when the DA's around here were well into the negative's, and a perfect run, everything went perfect and that was all the car had. Last night the only thing good about the air was is was cold, but still pretty humid, so I think there's still another couple tenths left in her.

$210, 175 for the tune and 35 for shipping, that's to and from me, they send a return ups label with it, so when you're done, you just slap the label on it and drop it off at a ups store and that's it, probably comes out a little cheaper than pcm swap.

i was just doing some researching on trifecta's web site and apperantly bryan from pcmforless is supplying vince with the tunes anyway..guess my point being nothing against vince but i just never heard much about his tuning..but ive heard bryan knows his stuff..guess if i was on the fence before now im definatly gonna add a trifecta tune to my tax check list...thanks bowtie for the info

Your car picked up some power if your trap went up 2mph, and you say the air was worse AFTER the tune.
FWIW, you can have a zero-downtime tune from Ion at MadZ28 or from pcmforless.com . Those guys almost ALWAYS have extra computers laying around. When I had my car tuned at pcmforless, I simply bought an additional computer from them with the new tune on it. Now I have 2 computers. I have since had a local guy tune my car and we could technically put a nitrous tune on one of the computers and an n/a tune on the other if we feel like it. Having an extra computer laying around is never a bad thing.

^very true, I was gonna do the deposite thing with brian, but I figured I would try vince, he's only been tuning for a couple years, and I figured someone's gotta try them out and let everyone know how they are. And yes, when I did my previous best, the old 13.7(before the tune), that was perfect air and I felt like I didn't leave anything on the table, and the 13.6 from last night the air was worse, and I felt like I left some on the table coming off the line, and the car gained 2 mph, so I'd say it made a decent improvement.

I have done two cars through Vince...he has always spent the extra time to make sure the car ran right. He reviewed data logs and revised the tune...there's no telling how much of his time he sent...good guy.
