It's definitely crazy everything has doubled or even tripled in price , you almost need a rich old lady backing your car addiction haha .

odd thing is non performance tires really dont seem like they went up much... but i guess they have more choices and more competition.

i guess performance stuff is not a necessity... but damn looking at 5th gen crap the who wants to pay 1200 for a cat back system... or even 400-500 for the axle back stuff. then intake kits range from 300-500... really? its like a foot of plastic tubing with a filter at the end lol

meissen always said the 5th gens are like vettes...they seem to have a mark up for stuff for no reason... I think they callnit the "vette tax." On ur case..the "5th gen tax."

Have you looked at the price of a battery yet?

Insane. My beater battery used to run about 64.99 for a house-brand. Not anymore. 119.99 for a Honda Civic. Seriously?

Yup I see this battery issue everyday at work lol. I just tell people prices go up and will never go down haha.

It sucks tho bc I see people all the time who are stranded and can't afford another one :-|

5th gens pay a shit ton for mods cause its a very high dollar owner club at the moment and the aftermarket can justify pricing by saying the R&D was expensive etc. 4th gens were like that when they first came out and once 5th gens get ratty enough for kids to own them, mods will be cheaper as well. New and shiny, goes with pricey.

You think vette/5th gen stuff is expensive? Try duramax stuff and be sitting down while you do  Their build subforum is called, "If poverty is what you seek, here is the solution."

Yeah 5th gen stuff pisses me off. I want to have more mods on my car but I'm not going to pay 1200 for a catback exhaust or over $1000 for high flow cats. Most of the stuff I've been able to barter a little bit on the price - in 2012 they replaced the LLT 3.6L V6 with the LFX 3.6L V6 engine on the 5th gen Camaro. Practically the same engine but enough differences that many of the products for the LLT won't work on the LFX. So since they were coming out with new stuff, I got in on beta testing a few things to get a cheaper price. I still had to pay $400 for a cold air intake which makes my stomach churn.... I thought $250 for the SLP dual intake was a lot.

yeah they seemed liked they doubled as well.

feel the pain on that one two folds my daily driver has a battery that really only fits one model year and in turn have to get it from the dealer.

Yeah, I remember when I got my ENTIRE set of Telstars (15x4 and 15x8) for under $500 back in like 05. Not anymore that's for sure.

Some things have dropped in price. I just bought my 2nd (for a backup/loaner) Tech-2 clone for $290. The one I bought 2 years ago was over $700.

Some stuff has with the rise in material cost. How ever if you use the Consumer Price Index calculator from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, you start to see some stuff has just kept with the price of inflation. An example Ill use is Borla cat backs, in 1999 you could buy one for 579$ brand new from MTI in Houston. Today that would similar to paying $826 for a cat back. At the same time a loaded WS6 Trans Am sticker priced right at about $31,000, today that would be $42K, imagine that's similar to a 2SS 5th Gen.
