Well guys... It's been months and months, since I decided to throw in the towel on my beloved 96Z28.

And while inspiration never came, I did finally get sick and tired of being flogged by just about everything that moves on a highway, with my only means to protest being to gun the Land Yacht... or break out the Miata. Suffice it to say, it's been an exercise in futility.

(Although, the Miata did hold its own against a 5th Gen V6 the other day... Felt pretty good about it, until it occurred to me, what I was celebrating... :( )

So... I bought a buddy off and he drove down from Orlando to help me transfer the flag from the old Hell-bitch to the new-2u unit.

I've seen the videos where this all gets done in a day. This ain't that... .

But the next few posts will have the photos... quality sorta sucks, but it's an iPhone, so... well, you know.

Goodbye old friend...

Thanks Brother...

We're draggin' out the old V6 today. The electrical issues are making me anxious.

So I think I'm going to pull my engine off and stick it back on the stand, so I can take my time installing the new cam and setting up the rockers and guides.

God awful rust rot in the undercarriage. It got up inside the unibody frame members and after the last build, it literally tore the 'beams' that the LCAs mount to, to shreds; separating all the pressed components, bending the crap out of the floor pan on both sides.

It's actually much worse than it looks in the picture... but that gives ya an idea.

Ok, I remember that now. Yeah, time for another for sure. Such a shame.

Motor's out, I have to grab my stand from my buddy's shop and I'll put the motor up on the stand. Give it a good look-see, install the cam, set the heads on, set up the rockers and guides... carefully place the intake back on top and figure out what to do with the Valve Covers...

The new heads have the bolt holes on the outside, so none of the sets I have in-house will work because they're all centerline.

"I love my build", "I love my build","I love my build","I love my build","I love my build"... .

Finally got a day to get back at it, got the gasket kits, lubed up the LE spec'd cam and slid her on in and "FUCK ME!", it's got the short pin in it.

Anyone have a solid way to pull the pins out and get the long one from the old cam into the new one? I'm thinkin' machine shop tomorrow. But if I can do it without destroying anything I'd like to get it done today.

Believe it or not, but I went to three machine shops before someone said they could pull the pins out of those cams. Delivered... now we wait. Typical F-body build.
