Almost ready to fire it up. Waiting on a cheap in tank pump From China. Computer is reprogrammed, fuel pump and fan relays are wired and working properly. Drive shaft shortened, harness chopped up. Just a couple things left. I may need some advise From some of the forum members in the next week or so.

Love to see swapped rides! Throw some pics up for everyone to admire, and when you get a chance pop in over at the Introductions section and let us all know a little more about you and the project.

28745 once I hear it fire I'll route and clean up the wiring. I wanted everything accessible for possible trouble shooting.

Nice work man! Ahh, I remember the days of the spaghetti wiring everywhere in my Nova swap.

Any plans to run in the LTX Shootout this year?

I'm in Canada, where is it? My swap is about mpg, reliability and hp. So if it anywhere reasonably close. . I might

Got another question guys, how many of you have a tach? How did you hook it up? Where?

I ran an Autometer on my Nova swap. Wired it straight up to a wire on the coil. I would have to look at a wiring diagram to tell you which one.

I think I know which one. .. I believe it's white. The only wire (I hope) that got damaged at the connector while I was dying the harness. Wire broke off in the connector on a very cold night in the garage. Dam .

I think it is pin 13 on the red plug. I made up an Excel file with the pin-out to help sort it out. What part of Canada are you from?

Nice sheet pete. I'm in Stratford Ontario Pete. . On 13 is the one that broke off at the coil. Was that wire sending info from the coil to pcm or from pcm to coil. It's got spark.

Damn, I am impressed with that Excel spreadsheet!! If it was Visio I'd be even more impressed :) Good job!

Hi Glen
The white wire at the coil looks like Black module B5 (Ignition Control). So I think it would be the trigger pulse for the coil, which might be able to drive a tach. Some time ago the tach in my Impala SS quit and the car started to run real rich. Turns out the injector lead for #1 cylinder had grounded and the injector kept firing and it must also have been the tach pulse source because when I ran another lead wire it fixed the tach too. However, I don't think B5 is the official tach terminal.
I live in the Vineland - Jordan area about two hours from Stratford.
I bought a 79 Z28 new in the fall of 78. I ordered it black with T-Tops, auto and posi. With the same 165 hp engine as a Caprice wagon it wouldn't spin the back tires. My Impala SS has no trouble smoking the 255/55x17's. You will enjoy the difference. With some power it will be a nice car and get better fuel economy to.
In the Excel file I set up a tab for each topic like Pass Key, Knock sensors, etc. I forget a lot of details, so it's a good way to document the way I put it together in case it needs maintenance or I sell it someday. If anyone wants a copy send me a PM with an email address.
