Hey all, I was doing this: http://ltxtech.com/forums/showthread.php?25489-Junkyard-Craigslist-3rd-Gen-Camaro-Build but I decided to put the LT1 into this:

http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j190/josephmcgurr/IMG_20140418_163744_zps43126119.jpg (http://s80.photobucket.com/user/josephmcgurr/media/IMG_20140418_163744_zps43126119.jpg.html)

I got this little sucker from Craigslist for $600. I haven't driven it yet because I've had it off the ground getting it running and making the brakes functional. It was in pretty bad shape. I do love the Camaro but by the time I end up getting the tranny, clutch, exhaust and everything else together, I could have the LT1 running in the Fiero. The Camaro will still get a transplant but I have no idea if it'll still be an LTX or not.

Here's the LT1 as it currently sits. Soon I'll have the heads back from the machine shop so I can get started on the porting and polishing.

In the meantime, I'm trying to get the Fiero streetable for the time being.

Old brake fluid:

About to rebuild these calipers:

http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j190/josephmcgurr/IMG_20140503_182811_zps244e0782.jpg (http://s80.photobucket.com/user/josephmcgurr/media/IMG_20140503_182811_zps244e0782.jpg.html)

So far I've replaced the injectors since there was a stuck one, done the obvious to the brakes, changed the oil a few times (long story), fixed some wiring, changed the plugs, etc etc. Not trying to sink a bunch of money into the drivetrain.

NICE. My shop is in Va Beach right next to Pick n Pull. You are welcome to come by any time.

Just before it on the left?

Depends on which way you're coming from. If coming up Sykes (with pick n pull on the left) you'd turn that corner and I'm on the right. Coming up Southern, yes, on the left before the turn for Pick n Pull.

I thought about doing this for an outlaw build, no weight and lots of torque should be a ton of fun.

There is surprisingly a decent amount of room in these cars for as small as they are.

Finished my rear brakes:

So I drover her around a bit. No plates/inspection so I kept it on the grounds.

No pics, but I lucked out and found two Buicks with L67s in them at the junk yard today so I got the 36lb injectors out of both. This paycheck I'll be picking up the LT1 heads so I can start the porting and polishing. Today I also grabbed my new oil pump and old pickup tube to bring home and tack weld in place.

Nice man. What trans are you using?

Making you silky smooth...

I haven't decided. The stock Getrag has proven to hold up, but this one is pretty high-mileage so I don't think I'd trust it without a rebuild. Otherwise it'll be an F23 or F40, but these need to be built to handle the torque.

Ive seen el dorado trannys used in builds like these also.

There's a guy here that has an ls3 strapped to a 6 speed out of a G6 I believe he had some adapter plate made for it

Yup, that would be the F40. Any of them will require an adapter plate, so long as I'm staying LTX (which I am). The Camaro? Well I may go to the dark side on that one. Honestly, I have no idea on the tranny. I am building this engine in hopes of 380-400 rwhp in a front-engine car. Most of the trannies out there won't handle more than 300lb/ft or so at the crank, including the F40 I believe.
