Just wondering how many people have made their 93-96 fbody have drls like the newer cars do. I know there is a module behind the radio and then some wiring involved. Did some searching and didn't really come up with much.

I was thinking about it. I kind of wanted them to function similarly to the 97 and up cars. I feel as if I know what needs to be done to make it happen. I am surprised what little results turned up in searches. Thought there wasn't anything that people haven't already tried with these cars.

Would it help if I sent you .pdf's of the 98 lighting wiring diagrams for the domestic (with DRL's) and Euro models (no DRL's)?

The diagram does show that there is a DRL Module that controls them. There is a light sensor input as well. The complication seems to be a method to allow the turn signals and the DRL's to co-exist.

Sure send me the diagram. Thank you. I was thinking removing everything drl related out of a 97+ car and transferring to my car. Module, wiring harness ect

Also wondering if that same module was used in other vehicles I am sure it was. That would greatly increase availability at my local junk yard.

The DRL module functions this way: When you switch on the ignition, it switches the turn signal filaments to a constant 12v circuit (always on). Then when you operate a turn signal, that signal from the switch is read by the DRL module, which switches that turn filament back to the turn switch/flasher circuit. When the turn signal completes, it goes back to constant 12v. It takes about 1-2 seconds to do each switch.
Also, there is a light sensor in the dash on non-US cars that switches this on during the daytime. On US cars, the sensor is deleted, so it stays on all the time.

Finally got around to figuring this out. Stumbled across this. http://www.webelectricproducts.com. They make a drls for 96-96 vettes. I ordered the module and installed it in my firebird. And it works great. Drls have factory functioning.
