ok, so the 350 vortec in my truck is on its last legs and i am trying to decide what i want to do as far as a motor swap. i have an lt1 short block that i pulled out of my z that i could build (h/c 355ci, shooting for 400-450hp at the crank) or just rebuild the vortec (355ci w/cam, shooting for 350-400hp at the crank). so my questions are, will the lt1 bolt up to the stock 4x4 4l60e (needs rebuild as well) and what would be involved as far as wiring up the motor? also the lt1 is originally out of a 95 impalla ss if that makes a difference. the vortec rebuild will be cheaper and less of a headache since i have the complete motor and wouldnt have to change the harness, but the spider injection assy sucks and 400hp is about the limit of it. the only upgrade for it is is either the marine manifold (~$700), the holley stealth ram (~$1000+), or go carb'd. the other option would be to stick a 5.3 in it but meh, it's been done a lot and i would rather put an lt in it over an ls. this is my daily, so i am kind of leaning toward the vortec rebuild because it is simpler and will be quicker with less down time. any insight or experience with this type of swap would be appreciated!

yea i wouldnt go carbed, i was just putting it out there as an upgrade (if that) for the spider assy. i was thinking of doing the 24x swap if i were to go with the lt, but that is more money and more time that the truck would be down

the 24x can get pricey.i am waiting on a timing cover and hub i ended up buying 2 of each so if you go the 24x way i may have the timing cover and hub you would need.

i might be intersted either way, since i will eventually be doing the 24x swap on my z when i get ready to put a procharger on it, let me know. any other opinions/experiences with this swap?
