Help me out with a quick vote.

Ok, so I recently replaced the rear markers and front markers on the TA.

Being that the car is black.. the smoked rears was a No brainer for me.

However, I have always liked clear front corners...they look great on my white camaro, and I think they look great on Black cars as well...

HOWEVER...

I am unsure on the TA, because of the black and gold combination, if the amber front corners were the better way to go.


Take a look at these pics and let me know what you think... Ill make this thread a poll, so for those who are at a computer, please use the poll.

Clears.

I'm totally against doing anything that will reduce the visibility of the lighting on a vehicle.

Maybe the alternate would be to do something other than gold on the wheels.

I voted for the ambers, just because I think it goes well with the rest of the gold theme. Like Injuneer said above, no point in reducing the visibility, especially when you have the option to change between the 2 colors and not lose any light output.

I understand the concerns with visibility, however I'm purely asking from the aesthetics perspective, not functionality, or legality (in fact, the clears would be illegal).

And Im going with a lil 70s TA throwback on cosmetics when its done, so Def not changing the gold wheels, I like the black/gold.

Technically ANYTHING that is not from the factory, is not legal. In PA that is.

Now, will you get away with it the way you suggested???? YES...odds are no cop will ever know the difference.

Inspection critera is not identical to vehicle codes/ vehicle equipment... In fact another example... WINDOW TINT, is not an inspection issue anymore... however it is still a violation of the vehicle codes/equipt.

All I did was take clear corners I got off of ebay, mask off the DRL section, and use Duplicolor Metalcast orange on the part I wanted amber. I used I think 800 grit to scuff the lenses a bit, and laid on many light coats. I intentionally put on to many coats to where the amber was getting opaque, and let it cure for a few days. Wet sand it with 1000 grit and then 1200 until you get your desired transparency, and throw a few coats of wax on it.

I put some white LED's in the DRL portion, and amber LED in the amber portion. It's a mod that typically goes unnoticed, which is how I like it.

I was going to keep it as my little secret, but I figured it was worth sharing this time around ;)

I really like that idea.... i like the look as well... from the side, the amber is still there to match the black/gold thing... and from the front, CLEAR, or SMOKED clear....

You could always opt for the black housing, clear lens and switchback LEDs. No inhibiting of the output from the housing (but you still get the smoked look) and white running lights with amber turn signals when you need it. Best of every world. For example:

That's how I did mine, just direct bulb replacements to LED, same socket and all.

I use 3157 LED's from Autolumination for the turn signals and had to replace the flashers.

My 98 TA (different from earlier cars I know) came from the factory with clear lenses and amber bulbs. I always kinda wanted them to be real amber lenses.

If you want LED Turn Signals you need a EL12 I think flasher. Shouldn't need it for the marker light I think.

Here is.my idea.
. I THINK im gonna talk to.my vinyl guy...and see if he can recreate the honeycomb from the 77ta grill in gold vinyl...then im gonna over lay that over the clear lights.... See how.that looks.
