the firehawk has no seal the hood has the seal on it and the lid say's firehawk.and has 2 hold down screws so the base is not the samehttp://ca.imglocalmart.com/image/main/tj8O4LO2Bdpbjcsm (http://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&docid=2QyySvDxaVLz5M&tbnid=zwQEEWeHsg0fnM:&ved=0CAUQjRw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fon.localmartca.com%2Fmississauga% 2Fitem%2Fslp_ram_air_intake_lt1_firehawk_93_97_ws6 _ultra_z_camaro%2F66961750&ei=unxDU42ECcq_0gHv2oDIBQ&bvm=bv.64367178,d.dmQ&psig=AFQjCNGQsQ-8zjF8Tt9mU8gEtW07XSlv4g&ust=1397018100690500)https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRQFf_Kn0Uy2Xt3N4pFKDLFdyXLNpAAO TRRlOr3fV7RvI_6Duq9rw
but 96/97 I think the hood is the sams as the ws6 but I could be wrong on that.

I have the 93/95 firehawk hood on my car . I was looking for a cost effective alternative to
buying the actual SLP box . And the seals are gone off my hood .

There was another "SLP air box" as well. The 96/97 WS6 air box was identical to the SLP "Ram Air HO" aftermarket box, except the SLP box did not have the molded gasket (supplied with some cut-to-fit weather stripping); did not have the "PONTIAC" or "Ram Air" logos.

Not to hijack the thread but can you guys ID this one? No logos on it and the rubber seal is attached to the hood. The car is a 95 and the previous owner thought it came from the factory with it - from what I've read though the ram air option wasn't available until 96. I put the smooth bellows on.

Appears to be the SLP "Ram Air HO" box that they supplied with their "aftermarket" WS6 style hood, and the Ultra-Z hood for the Z28.

Interesting, thanks. Do you think it was actually an aftermarket thing or something the dealer put on?

This is what the hood looks like:

I decoded the VIN and didn't see anything suggesting the ram air option:

As you already figured, there was no Ram Air (WS6) option until 1996.

Anybody could buy a "Ram Air HO" hood and airbox from SLP, but not until some time after the 97 WS6 cars were out of production . That's where I got mine in 2000.

The hood is IDENTICAL to the 96/97 WS6 hood. The decals say "Ram Air HO" and are in a different font than the real "Ram Air" decals. The airbox is identical except for the "Ram Air" and "PONTIAC" logos, and there was no molded rubber seal. They gave you a length of rubber weather strip that you could cut and apply to the hood or the box. Kit also included an extension for the MAF sensor harness, and a new molded rubber hose to connect from the airbox to the AIR pump. My airbox looks different because I cut the grid out of the top and enlarged the entire opening over the filter, adding a couple of tie-bars to hold the shape of the top.

No, mine are quite different - here they are up close:

The car was probably just modified early on. It is original except for a cat-back system but it has still been through a few owners before me!

That's the stock font. There are decal shops that sell repros, and every once in a while someone finds new original stock in a dealership somewhere.

For years, SLP would not sell you a WS6 hood unless you could provide the build number of an original 96/97 car, indicating it was a replacement. It was only a few years after they stopped making the hood for the 97 model year that they started selling replicas.

The "Formula" decal on the headlight cover is another story.... in 93 and 94 it said "Formula V8", then in 95 they dropped the "V8". The V8 was really hard to read from a distance. I bought my car new in California in 1994, and the day I took it home a neighbor was looking at it from out in the street and asked "why would you buy a V6?" Had to explain to him that it really was a V8. I only have the one on the rear bumper. The shop that installed the hood painted the bumper cover to get rid of stone chips, then did the headlight covers (removed decal), and faded the new paint into the tops of the fenders so it would match.
