So I had my lifted 99 sierra 4x4 up on cl for sale and after a many a low ball offers this can along and I had to jump on it.

BBK 85mm TB
SLP lid and cold air take
ORY
Flowmaster exhaust
4.10 gears
Poly mounts

Shoot, I'd take that deal all day long. Just watch out for the 98's. There's some first year nuances that are gotcha's.

I have a 98 also. From what I've read here are some of the pro's and con's....
Pro's
* roof and sail wont bubble
*biggest ls1 cam
*biggest ls1 injectors (28 vs 26)
*temp guage works correctly
Con's
*806 heads with perimeter bolt valve covers
*pcm doesn't have all the tables later models do
*oiling isn't as good as later models
*cylinders can only be honed to 3.903 vs 3.905 for the later blocks
*weakest rod bolts
Ive beat mine to death and it still runs perfect. Never had a valve cover off

Mopars at the strip this weekend. Friend of mine is a huge Mopar fanatic and we have been building a car for him that unfortunately we were a ball hair from finishing for this event. So I decided to run the TA. Same mods as listed above with the addition of some 315 nitto DR's.
Ran 13.54 at 103.7 just in drive shifting 6200rpm. .137 reaction 2.1 60ft.
Hopefully get a few more in today. Here's a few pics and trying to get videos off my wife's phone.

Hate to say it but that's a REALLY low time and trap for those mods. My bone stock 99 T/A was running that same time and 104-106 traps, again, BONE STOCK. Has the car been tuned at all? That thing should be closer to 110-112 trap speeds and running pretty easily into the 12's with the mods listed.

That's what I was hoping for was 12's. Previous owner said it was tuned good but who knows. It runs great pulls hard and isn't missing and stays 185°. Smells rich and puffs a little black smoke high rpms though. Maybe it being tunes for the phx valley and running up here in Vegas is slowing it down a bit. Not sure. Our older carb cars tend to run a little slower up here but I'm new to the lsx world so I don't know. Also I noticed the 3" ory is going into stock cat-back with a flow master muffler clamped on. Maybe to restrictive.
Also I just realized I think I brain farted and put 87 oct. In it and its tuned for premium. Heading over to through some race fuel it hopefully up it.

Stock cat-back is hurting it for sure. Do you have an airlid on it? If not, get one ASAP. Truthfully, those times are more like stock car times and it really makes me question if it's been tuned at all, because you really don't see good gains from headers on LSx stuff until you get it tuned.

Yes SLP lid and cold air tube. Its had all the emissions stuff removed and there's no engine light so its at least been tuned for that I would think.

Las Vegas is at 2,100 ft. Using the NHRA "stock" correction factors to get sea level equivalent, 13.54 @ 103.7 converts to 13.31 @ 105.4 at sea level.
Phoenix area is about 1,120-ft.

Good info, So not much difference in time. There must me something incorrect in the car. Like suggested the tune is probably where its off. I'm not sure what else it could be if I should be running into the 12's as is. Traction is there and the trans doesn't feel to be slipping.
