My 97 T/A window motors have finally bit the dust. 208K miles and the original motors, I can't really complain.

Anyways, my drivers side actually has a damaged regulator, and the passenger side just has a bad motor.

Question is, how much of a pain in the rump is doing the regulator as an assembly? I know the motors aren't too hateful, but I don't personally know anyone who has done the full regulator.

Any write ups or tips/tricks?

I did it a long time ago before I knew there was a procedure for replacing the motors without removing the regulator. The biggest pain was getting someone to hold up the glass while I positioned it in place. I see some places show a rubber door stop being used but that didn't work for me, kept slipping. I see shbox shows the use of a c-clamp, which I did not try, and I am not sure that would work once the regulator is removed as support.
Make sure to mark all the mounting screw locations in the slotted holes so you can put them back in the same position as before. Just draw around the screw/bolt head with a pencil or marking pen.
It took me a lot of trial and error to get the correct position and orientation of the regulator to move it inside.

I used the door stop method on mine and it worked fine. Drivers took me like 1 1/2hr to figure out and drill out rivets. Passenger side I got pissed and whipped out the grinder and took the rivets down in not time. From the time I opened the car door to being 100% done was like 45 mins.

I did the full regulators. I also went to ace and got 8 flush head carriage bolts with a nice flange nut and pre-drilled the regulator mounts out. I have yet to find the right size rivet gun for those huge bastards the regulators come with.

Here's the site I used: http://www.firebirdnation.com/pdf/windowreplacement.pdf

That is making me less excited to fix my windows.

It doesn't seem too bad, just a pain in the testicles. After tax time, I'll have to get the motors, regulators, and some relays and go to town.

I appreciate the link, it's quite helpful.
