Guys, ,my old 96Z Chassis was tore all to hell by combination of too much torque (I know... but in this case, it was), nearly 20 years of chronic WOT service and the rust common to Michigan cars.

Tore the rear chassis 'beams', if ya will, from the skin and the inner separated from the outer, among other things.

I have been trying to figure out a way to piece it back together, cause I love that car, but it's beyond my skill levels and I don't have the coin to pay someone else to do it.

Beyond that, the rust is out of control down there and I can't trust that it will hold together and eventually either put me in the wall or into a straight on the road and, who needs that?

So I am looking for a Camaro roller. Figured the V6 chassis would work given it's been subjected to significantly less stress... and they're everywhere.

The retro seems fairly straight forward, but the harness is clearly something that seems problematic. Anyone know what's involved in the electrical side of this sort of project?

I've got a line on a 95 Camaro V6-auto. I'm going to look at it on Wednesday, so if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

Thanks much,
Mike OVA1

Yeah mine was originally a v6. Everything transfers over, but there will be wiring differences between the two. Especially with 1995 being "OBD1.2" and 1996 being straight up OBD2.

strip it all the way down and swap harness' since you have them

Fuel system is different also, I believe.

Essentially, you have a complete everything off your V8 car and just need a naked V6 roller with everything underneath ripped out. Transfer over all the stuff (suspension, drivetrain, fuel system, wiring harness, gauge cluster, even interior if need be) and it should be about the same as having a fresh body. Am I wrong on this, meissen?

That's pretty much it. The more you strip off of the v8 car to transfer to the v6 the easier the job will be. Especially dash and engine bay wiring.
