Hi everyone, I've been out of the LTX world for a few years now, I am kind of rusty with everything LTX related. Anyways, I found a really clean 97 Camaro SS with 65k miles for sale near my house. Its an automatic, it comes with Hooker long tubes (ceramic coated) and full exhaust (borla I believe). It's a T-top car, as far as I can tell everything is good on it, drives really solid.

Well, my question is, how much should I pay for this car? The dealer is asking a 12k for it, but I'm pretty sure I can talk them down a few grand. I was thinking that car should be more in the 8-9k range, but a friend of mine said he wouldn't go more than 6, what do ya'll think?

I was thinking in the 7-8 range, more if it was a manual

6-7k is the high end for one in my area

I don't know why they are asking for so much, they gave me a sheet that clearly states "Book Price $10,590" and "Asking Price $11,995" This doesn't make any sense to me. I'll probably swing by tomorrow and see what the real price would be

they can "ask" anything they want...doesn't mean you have to pay it

12K will buy you a nice LSx car with low miles

Blue book was a pain, but nada has it from 9k to 13.8k. I'll swing by this week and see what I can do, but not paying over 8 for it

I would have to agree. I dont see even 8... but then again... value is ALSO how bad u want it. Ive paid over value on things simply because i wanted it immediatley.

Prices also vary depending on region/area, so keep that in mind. I know cars on the east coast tend to sell for considerably cheaper than I could ever pick up the equivalent thing for here in Dallas, TX. Some of that boils down to regional economics lol.

Thats why many of the pricing guides require you to enter a zip code....

Make sure to run the VIN to see if it is an actual SS. The dealer is marking it up ridiculously high. Clean LT1 in this area runs around 5 or 6K.

I paid 13k for my 1997 Z28 when it was 3 years old and had 25k miles on it.

You're looking at a $7500 car. It'd be $5500 if it were a regular Z28.

so the car is a true SS by SLP, I don't see 12k, not even 9k. but the dealer wont make a deal, so I see it as their loss. I don't need/really want the car, I saw it as an investment since I am moving to England in 3 weeks, I thought I could flip it and make some money.

Thanks for the input, it helped me make up my mind and passing on the car

FWIW, I think you are making a good call. If they want gold, and won't even consider silver, it can sit on their lot and depreciate.
